New FREE Korg Mexican/South-American styles

Post by manuelphx »

Hello everyone:
Hola a todos....

Below the link to download from Korg USA a 32 styles set with Mexican/South-American styles some, never have been in ANY arranger.

http://www.korg.com/SupportResults.aspx?search=pa500

when you go to the link, select the DOWNLOADS next to the DOCUMENTATION folder. Just download the file and unzip it, transfer it to your media (USB or SD depending on the model you own).

My friend Juan Miguel Zarate and myself made this project for Korg sometime ago, this styles are compatible or design for the following models:

PA2X,800/500 y 588.
Some people have attempted converting them to other brands, well, we used some Korg Unique features like the Guitar Mode, and some of the special Korg Drum Kits, needless to say, that those conversions are inaccurate, have missing notes, parts, instrumentation, and also resolution issues.
The people that will enjoy this styles are the Korg model owners I mention before.
I hope you like them.

Manuel Dorantes Juan Miguel Zarate :)

Absolutely stunning is all I can say about this set of Korg PA styles. And let me add that I am not into Latin music myself, but the way these styles have been programmed is absolutely a treat for any musician.
All of us have gigantic collections of styles, converted, home-baked,etc. etc. and 99 times out of a 100 I am left disappointed with whatever new style is thrown at me. After all the internal Korg styles are superb and if you know how to tweak them they go a long, long way. But this set is really a breath of fresh air and a very proficient breath of fresh air. I am surprised not more people have responded, but then I guess they will on the KOrg forums. Manuel and partner, I feel indebted to you. And I feel sorry for those who do not own a Korg keyboard and have to try and make do with conversions of these admirable styles. Ah well, the Korg PA-500 which I own is a budget entry model, so perhaps you may be tempted as yet !!!!
Thanks again for this great set of Latin Styles.......

For some of the people that do NOT know this gender of music.

Here is a list of a few songs that you can check in You tube in relation with the styles.

Style Name Suggested songs/artist
1. Mariachi Cumbia Mariachi Loco, Yo no fui
2. Banda Cumbia Me llamo Raquel, La rajita de canela
3. Banda del Rio Picadientes

8. Charanga EL Negro Jose, Fandango,
9. Cumbia tecno Ancha de caderas
10. Sonora tropical el Ladron, mi sufrir, espinita, el orangutan, la boa
11. Kebradita This is the "Cumbia and it´s relatives.
12. Mariachi Polca Jesusita en Chihuahua, Juan Charrasqueado,
13. De la Sierra Los Higuereños Amor Vaquero
14. Paso Duranguenze el Sube y baja
15. Polca del Norte El buey de la barranca, el Ausente, el taconazo
16. Mariachi Lento(2/4) Pa’ todo el año, volver volver, por tu maldito amor

28. Vallenato Pop This is a "Tropical" type section.
29. Banda Shuffle Yo por nada de este mundo - Banda el Recodo
30. Banda Zapateado Juan Colorado, Sinaloense, Rascapetate
31. Merequetengue Chilito Pikin, Pajaro Choui
32. Mariachi Son La Bikina, La negra, Guadalajara, Pelea de gallos.

This ethnic styles are probably the most accurate comparing them with the Original band/artist.
Nuances like in the Norteño, the correct instrumentation is Accordion, Bass, Drums, BAJO SEXTO, that is sort of a 12 string bassy guitar, that when playing a Major chord, usually only you hear 2 notes instead of 3.
The few Norteños wanabees... (in other brands) have a Nylon Guitar or steel guitar, playing 3 or more notes in a Major chord, and the musical phrasing is wrong. Feel free to check that with Ramon Ayala, Tigres del Norte, Tucanes del Norte. etc...
Check the Mariachi Vargas de Tecatitlan in You Tube if you want to learn more about the Mariachi music, even with large Philharmonic Orchestra....
Just type those names and you´ll see what I mean.

To some that are not familiar with most of this styles, they may seem simplistic, but the matter of the fact is that until now, No other manufacturer have done this type of styles with the authenticity.

The weakest issue on the Korg Vs Yamaha is lack of styles...

Thanks to you guys for sharing these...
EVERYONE...if you have styles to share ...great.... as this will make the Korg more powerful and help in this area of deficiancy.

It is the reason why some have switched back to Yamaha.

Most of the styles for Yamaha are not from Yamaa handing them out...they are from previous boards and many customers sharing their work...
Thanks, again,
Lee
