Which power supply for Electribe EMX/ESX?

Post by bog »

Does anyone know if you can power an EMX/ESX Electribe with the 1Spot power supply?
I believe the 1Spot is rated 9v (negative center) 1700mA.

You definitely can NOT run any 9V DC powersupply with the EMX/ESX. They are 12V *AC*.

Thanks for that info. Are you referring to just the SD versions?
I heard somewhere the non-SD versions used 9V 3000mA transformers?

Oh, and if I wanted to find the replacement power adapter for the EMX/ESX electribes, where should I look? Does anyone have the model number for the power adapter?

Ok, I looked around some more and I guess for the original non-SD EMX/ESX, you can use the same 9v 3000mA AC power adapter used by Triton LE, Radias, and Karma. Is that right?

In general, I would assume that any power supply would work if current, voltage, amperage and polarity are appropriate for the device - they can usually be read on the case of the instrument.

That said, all official manuals say DON'T EVER EVER USE UNOFFICIAL POWER SUPPLIES, THE PLANET WILL IMPLODE AND WE TAKE NO RESPONSABILITY

yes, but it's AC, so you definitely can't use a 1700mA DC transformer!

call Korg support, they'll tell you the part number and sell you a replacement

the non-SD versions have a weird DIN-like power socket, like a 3-pin MIDI connector, I don't know if the Radias and Karma adaptors are the same

KA169E

(I think the 'E' might be for the European version, not sure)

Thanks. My research suggests that KA169 might be for the European versions and KA163 is for the American ones?
