Unfortunately, I do not think you are wrong. This + no tiltable screen (which the M3 had) = two big disappointments on what otherwise looks to be a stellar synth. If they put an SSD drive in the damn thing, why can't we load samples on it That's like putting a DVD drive on a PC and then telling people they can't watch movies on it. |

SSD is Flash, and the Virtual Memory feature seems to indicate that samples can be loaded dynamically from the SSD Flash. But I'd have to confirm this to be sure. |

Well, they have samples pre-loaded onto the SSD (like the pianos), but nowhere have I seen that you can store your own on there and/or play your own samples directly from the SSD. If you can though, I'd be willing to forgive them for the non-tiltable screen |

USB is a bus type, SSD is a storage form; they are completely different. You can have e.g. keyboards/mouse/webcams connected via USB which has nothing to do with SSD.
An SSD is more or less a set of flash memory components working together for speed improvements. Instead of reading/writing data to 1 flash memory, it is spread to multiple ones. _________________

Perhaps that fellow was referring to loading samples from a USB flash drive.... _________________ Kurzweil K2500 (stolen), Korg Z1 18-voice (stolen), Yamaha P250, Novation Nova, Korg Wavedrum, Korg Kronos 61 (it's here!), as many free VST's as I can find |

I guess many of us can make quite an educated "Flash" guess
And for the record:
The only downside of SSD streaming is the bootup time.
In exchange SSD is much superior in providing streaming of big sample libraries.
Conclusion:
I couldn't care less about flash memory, and hardly ever would use it, with it's extremely slow sample write procdures. The Kronos SSD streaming is much more important and flexible to use for me. _________________ Kronos 73 - Moog Voyager RME - Moog LP TE - Behringer Model D - Prophet 6 - Roland Jupiter Xm - Rhodes Stage 73 Mk I - Elektron Analog Rytm MkII - Roland TR-6s - Cubase 12 Pro + Groove Agent 5 |

I would trade slow boot-up for slower writes. Having gigs of flash and a fast boot time is better IMHO. And it would still allow streaming. |
