What I have hunted down so far:
From Synthopia http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2012/01/09/namm-rumors-2012/ the rumor is:
Quote: | "Korg will have a new micro keyboard (microGrand?) and a new synth module" |
I'm going to go with the idea that this is a new synth module. _________________ Korg PX5d

Some Electribe-y thing, although the Play/Pause sizes look kinda small relative to the button.
Looks like a button off of a Kaossilator Pro, if it had play and pause buttons. |

Our guitarist (who has a small studio) said he would buy a Kronos Rack if there was one. _________________

But you have to remember this pops up when you update the iKaossilator. And like others have already said, the red and yellow strongly hint at the kaossilators. It would be interesting if its some type of Kaossilator plus Sequencer (in relation to the play/pause buttons....). Korg has already produced the montotribe, based off of the Electribes.....maybe a Kaossilatribe?
Actually, minus the awkwardness of that name, I could kind of see Korg doing something like this. Think about it. The KP3...the KPro...the Quad....the iKaossilator....they keep coming out with Kaoss variants, and in each of them you can sort of save your loops into different banks. Now, if they incorporated a sequencer of some sort, that would really make sense and flow with what they've been doing so far. |

To me "The Real Thing" hints analogue. While the pause and play buttons hints at sequencing/recording. The yellow and red outlines give a nod toward Kaossilator and Mini Kaoss Pad respectively.
Wonder if it's an analogue groovebox with greater, MS-20-like, synthesis capabilities, with emphasis on the groove aspect. _________________ [Free Moss Set For All Workstations With Moss Expansion]

Surely it must be the all new Coke-alator pad, given the title "the real thing".. Coke and Korg, a new partnership has been formed. |
