I could go to fed ex and take the pdf's in and the could print them for me. I think front and back.

I'm not very well versed in Korgs synth design structure on any of their synths including the Kronos.

Have any of you printed out certain parts of the manuels? What parts do you think would be most helpful for me?

I'm just not sure I can keep on referring back to the .pdf files on the puter.

You guys now about how the Kronos synth scructure is? is there a chart or map of one anywhere?

thanks.

Almost nobody prints it out, however there was a post some time ago about people who printed it.

Keep in mind that the OS might changed, causing changes in the manual too.

A PDF has advantages (crosslinking etc), but also disadvantages (paper reads easier).

The sound structure in very simple words:

a set list slot refers to a song, combi or program
a combi consists of upto 16 timbres (mostly programs), use for layering/splitting/MIDI channel settings
a program is the actual preset to store a sound, consists of one or two oscillators. A program can be using the rompler (HD1) or modeled engine (one of the other Cool
for the rest its mostly basic synth architecture (program using LFOs, VCA, VCF etc), the parameter guide is the way to go.

Actually I wouldn´t. You can read it as pdf-document, with the advantage of the ability to search for keywords.

I copied it to my Ipad though, so i always have it at hand, in bed, in the batchroom, on vacation... Laughing

While I do miss the printed manuals you used to get with s/w h/w in the past, having printed out various manuals in the past couple of years, normally I end up concentrating on around 20 - 30 pages out of say 300 I've printed out.

I have since come to the conclusion that it's not worth it.

Don't print the entire manual! These trees will be very grateful:

P.S. I usually find my answers in the built-in help function...

Also, by adding a little more money, you probably can by an e-reader instead of a printout.

I printed both the OG and PG - double sided - which takes up 2 large ringbinder files - but find more convenient than the PDFs (the docs are not going to change hugely with OS changes; and if they do it will be new sections e.g. if new synth engine introduced).

I printed all the manuals and then decided that was enough. Went out and bought a 10" Android tablet and transferred all the pdfs. Now when there are new editions I'll just put them on the tablet. No more printing.

That's true, for OS1.5 lots of details were changed, but nothing significantly.

I printed them all before getting the Kronos. Having the OG in hand was very useful, but once the K came, i haven't gone back to the manuals. I haven't used the PGs as well. As pointed out here (save trees!), it is probably best NOT to print the entire chunk.

Get a page number find out how much is in color then price it out at your fed ex/ kinkos. You will be shocked just how much it costs! By an iPad or ereader. I use an iPod but for pdf's it is on the very small side.

Thanks NV for this thread, i would have asked the same question eventually. The Ereader, is an awesome idea, i forgot that those can be picked up for way less than a ipad right? anyone got any ereader suggestions that do color as well and pdf's?

(Kronos Play.com) I accidentally found this site online and ordered the whole package. Except for shipping, I found them affordable as compared to other ways of printing. Quality is decent/good. I'm having them do my all my Triton Extreme/Moss manuals as well. Good luck.- Tim

I've been thinking about printing the manual - after all, isn't that what the big fancy printers in the office are for? (j/k) I do much prefer the ffel of paper and find it helps me take in information much better.

Looking at getting printed at an office store, it works out to about $70.00 for the parameter guide. For not much more you can get a Kindle or equivalent. Given the Kronos PDFs are quite large, has anyone had any experience reading the Kronos' manual on a Kindle, Kobo or Sony e-Reader?
