How do I Get the Drum Track to Swing?

Post by Sparker »

Is it possible to get the drum track to swing in time with KARMA?
(Is it possible to get the drum track to swing at all?)

My Problem: I've got a drum module in KARMA with a swing of ~25%. I've got the drum track enabled for selected scenes to bring in a long fill on the toms, however I can hear that the fill pattern isn't matching the swing of the KARMA module.

Is there any way I can get the drum track to synch to the swing of KARMA in realime?

(I can do it in SEQ mode by quantising the midi track that the drum track is recorded to the same swing% as the KARMA)

No, it's not possible to add swing to the drum track in real time. But in line with your final comment, what you might consider doing is editing/quantizing the drum track in the sequencer, then saving it as a user pattern, which you can then call up instead of the preset pattern.

Hard Synch: Thanks for the reply on that :)

I wasn't sure whether the user patterns would keep the 'swing'.

Maybe swinging the drum track will be a part of future software updates?

I dont think it will be in future updates since Swinging can be achieved using
KARMA instead of a Drum Track.

Basari: That's true. However there some combis (and maybe some of the performances in the Catalyst Soundset) that use the drum track for precussion and some combi's that don't have KARMA drum modules but do use a drum track to provide drums.

I'll have a close listen to some of them and see if I can figure out what happens when KARMA is swung while theres a drum track running.

I use the Drum Track a lot too, you cant manipulate it in any way at all.
