I would trade half of the piano patches for extra synth patches. Would you?
How many piano sounds do you actually use? _________________ https://m.youtube.com/user/1967runningman |

At home, I'm 95% piano.
For performances, it's 95% non-piano (orchestral, synth, EP, organ, SFX)
So on balance, I like the Kronos because it can do it all. |

I was never a big fan of piano, but I purposely got the 88 key Kronos so that I could learn how to play the piano for real. So far I'm loving it even though I'm a synth guy at heart. perfect mix as far as I'm concerned, but I do admit to go to my Virus when the synth-itch hits me hard.
I'm even warming up to the polysix - and I was never very impressed with that back when it came out.

The pianos are what tipped the scale for me, otherwise I'd still have my Triton Extreme. Even that's not a fair comparison; but, I already had KLC'07 analog and digital.
All that said, I can't wait to start offloading some librarian work on my DAW even with the extra banks (50% more, not too bad at all!) provided by 1.5.
My vote is keep the pianos cuz they're awesome and represent a paradigm shift in hardware instrument design but keep the synth patches coming! _________________ - cynkh -

I don't understand this..
How many Synth engines does Kronos have aboard?
How many of your personal collection of synthsamples can you load into the KRONOS?
Whats wrong with having those great piano's on top of the Synth samples?
Just add your own patches.... Isn't that what this synth is all about? |

It's not a complaint. I love my Kronos and the pianos, but I only use about 5 of the piano sounds. I cant get enough of the way out electronic, taped, retro synthy stuff.
Thanks for taking part in the poll, just an observation and a bit of fun. _________________ https://m.youtube.com/user/1967runningman |

Nothing is missing, but I'm hoping that a new library is released with some more vintage, way out electronic stuff. I'd happily pay for that. I'm not good at programming GregC, I have no patience for it(no ones perfect). I turn my Kronos on and want to just play.
I'm not knocking the Kronos. I absolutely love it. _________________ https://m.youtube.com/user/1967runningman |

That's funny. I'd vote for more pianos--less synths. |

I never used the HD1 piano, only the modeled pianos so they could be changed for more synth sounds _________________

Being primarily a pianist, its a perfect mix for me! In fact, I ADDED the Austrian Grand as soon as it was released! More orchestral stuff would be nice too.
To be fair, everyone has different needs. The Kronos caters to a huge scale of people from all walks of musical needs and handles it all very well! _________________ Check me out at PianoManChuck |

I was wondering whether Korg would be releasing the Legacy Mono-Poly synth as a Kronos Exi'.
It would be good to have some indication if this is a likely direction as I've been thinking of getting the Legacy Mono-Poly but if it were to be a future Exi for the Kronos then I'd wait for that. The Wavestation would also be possible, but it seems to me that that's already in the Kronos with waveshaping. _________________ Kronos 61 & KK KARMA / Triton Ex c/w MOSS and TR KARMA / MS2000 / Radias / Kaossilator Pro & Kaossilator / Korg Kontrol 49 / Nanopad / Novation Nova / Waldorf Blofeld

i understand exactly what he's talking about (the original poster).... how many acoustic piano presets do you really need? I have 60 acoustic piano presets loaded into my Kronos right now...
5 would probably be enough, 10 max... basically it's like he's saying that's 50 more synth style presets that could be taking those slots.
point taken and agreed.
only thing though... there is an easy solution. just notate the acoustic pianos that you don't use and use those as slots to save your newly created/or downloaded user patches to _________________ Please subscribe and follow me on Youtube and Facebook for information related audio technology.
