I don't like to leave mine on for extended periods of time, so I turn it on and off 3-4 times per day. Is this considered a lot? Is it better just to turn it on when I get home from work and leave it on until bed time?
As I've mentioned in another thread, we get voltage fluctuations where I live. A friend had a power surge that went right through her power strip's surge supressor and burnt up her computer. Yes, it caught fire.
Because of this, I unplug my Kronos about two minutes after powering it off every time.

I usually turn my kronos (along with everything else) for 3 to 8 hours a day. I generally leave everything power up until I am done in the studio.

Although, some days I may cycle the power 2 or 3 time and there is usually 2+ hours between cycles, (if I go out) but here again if I am at home, my studio is most likely powered up the entire time, shutting down only for bedtime.

While I don't un-plug my equipment I do power it down via power strips.

I have had no crashes as yet (OS 1.5).

Mostly I power up my Kronos when I am home, then I go sit behind the computer, sometimes I play it long, sometimes short, sometimes even not. But I only turn it on once per day for 2 to 5 hours.

(Btw, never had a crash since OS1.5).

For me it's the same:
I power it on once a day - maybe twice.
I leave it on until I go to bed .So around 2-5 hours like Michel.

I only had lockups on defective USB media while in disk mode and 1 reboot.
that was all before OS 1.5. Since then no more problems with this.
Use a k61 1000-2000 serial no.

Considering how long it takers to boot up, I only turn it off when I am either done for the day and/or if I will not be using it for more that 2 hours. I don't know what mean time is for Kronos start up failures, but I would suspect that a common sense practical approach to this probably best. I would not recommend turning if off and on all day long.

Also, I know this is old school, but I am very careful to sequence my equipment power upand power down. It believe it is a good practice to turn equipment on individually and to start with the source equipment and end up with the playback equipment. Follow the signal path from beginning to end and then reverse that sequence when powering down.

It's been always ON since 1.6 came out, like a nearly a month ago or so - no stability problems whatsoever. And until that date, it had been on for a couple months. A sleep/quick awake function would be nice though.

Kind Regards,
AMR

The only potential issue that I would see is how long will the screen last? I don't know the answer, but I suspect a lot longer than I will own the instrument.

I wonder if the manual says anything about this issue?

Don't know but typical values are 60k hours for a backlamp and 300k for an lcd.
There should be a Kronos III by then...

Exactly. As a serial upgrader, I'm not concerned! (Although worthwhile noting that back in the day, image burn-in was an issue. I don't believe it is any more.

I can't imagine such info is in the manual.
