STS/Style Variation Feature

Post by Bob H2 »

Many songs have phrases of the song in which the next phrase starts in the middle of a measure. That is the point where it is often desirable to change voicing. If the option for the STS button is selected where the light blinks, the STS setting is changed with the selection of a different style variation. BUT the voicing does not change until the start of the next measure. That is too late for the desired voicing change.

Is there any way to edit that Style/STS feature so that the voicing changes on the next note played? If not, that STS feature is of little use.

Yes, there is.
Just manually push the STS button you want... (button or touchscreen), the voices will change immediately.

I do have an EC5 and yes I do use it to select STS buttons. And yes, I sometimes manually push the STS button that I need. That's not the issue. The issue is that the PA3X has an option that selects an STS button as a result of selecting a different Style variation. When you use that option, the voice change usually occurs too late to be useful.

Incidentally, my Roland AT350C and my Technics KN7000 both cause the next note to have the new voice. But, I must admit that in their case, the button (triggered with a foot switch in my case) used is intended to change the voice first, and the style changes as a result of that action.
