just curious... i don't know how you judge it.... some people wants their board to last a very long time (including me)... but, for kronos owners, how long would you expect the lifespan of kronos???
This poll is to determine how long do YOU THINK that kronos will live, not to determine how long YOU WANT your kronos to live...
i know this sounds stupid, but at least i can have your picture on how your kronos is for the next 10 years...
Thanks!! _________________ Love my kronos 88

I really don't understand the point of this poll. There are too many factors to take into consideration to provide any meaningful response. For example, studio use, gigging - once per month, everyday . . and the list goes on. |

Agreed. And when you say "live" do you mean physically work or be supported, receive updates etc...? _________________ Korg: KRONOS 73, M50-61, 01W/r

I think the answer to this is 42. But I could be wrong. |

I've still got a motif classic that works perfectly.
I'm sure the triton I had is still out there working.
The m3 I had is still flawless.
These things really last a very long time.
Consider that they have their own OS running on
older to very old chipsets.

Pour toujours!
Or until something really unique as such comes along. |

I voted for 5 to 10 years, though I am on the 10 year end of that prediction.
My last two Korg workstations have lasted about 10 years, not because they stopped working then, but that the tech had moved on substantially by that point. My X3, purchased about 1992 (in fact, just a month before the release if the X2), is still very usable and being used by one of my friends in his punk/Brit pop band. I got my Triton Classic about 10 years ago (just days before the release of the Triton Studio) and it, of course, still sounds great - I rehearsed with it last night and am using it for a wedding tomorrow.
I am expecting a new Kronos to be released in the next 2 months because that is what happens when I buy Korg keyboards... (I'm waiting for delivery of a K61 in the next few days.)
Interestingly, the Trinton has developed a fault in the last couple of months, so my 10 years prediction looks about right.
I do wonder if the core component of the Kronos - an Intel motherboard - is really up to more than a decade of use. However, it s more than the main board that makes a keyboard.

I believe the hardware will last a very long time. How long will it remain fashionable to use one? How upgradeable the OS is will probably determine that. _________________ "To me the synthesizer was always a source of new sounds that musicians could use to expand the range of possibilities for making music."

I have a Korg Delta which I bought in the early 1980s - my first keyboard! Makes it about 30 years old - works perfectly and never needed a service
I guess I didn't expect it to last this long, but now that it has I'm going to make sure it lasts forever - not because it's the best keyboard in the world, but because of sentimental value.
If the Kronos, like any keyboard, is looked after it should last 10 years or more I'd say. _________________ Plugged in: Fantom 8, Jupiter-X, Jupiter 80, System-8, JD-XA, V-Synth GTv2, FA-06, SE-02, JU-06A, TR-09, VT-4, Go:Livecast, Rubix44, Shure SM7b, Push2, Ableton 11 Suite, Sibelius, KRK Rokit 5, |

I currently have an X5, N264, Triton Extreme, M50 and Kronos.
Except for a small crack in the case of the Extreme and some dirt inside the N264 causing one key not to have reliable velocity, ALL of them work and I gigged and dragged them to rehearsals approximately 6 years which each of them (except the last two which are not that old yet).
Most of them I transported in flight cases or hard cases, except for the X5 and N264 (soft bags). _________________

Hope you get your Kronos soon.
Kronos is sat in my room, where it stays and will stay for at least 10 years . _________________ https://m.youtube.com/user/1967runningman |

If the development team works out the endless misterious bugs and sloppy programming, probably forever. If not, not much.

My Farfisa just turned 40. Used it in a music video in 2010.
Don't know whether modern hardware can endure for that long. _________________ KORG Kronos2-61, Yamaha Motif ES6, KORG Minilogue, Farfisa VIP233, Axiom 49, BOSS RT-20, Neo Ventilator

Maybe it's me, but I haven't found any bugs in the OS that I have problems with. Better concentrate on everything that works. _________________
