On my second day on actually exploring my X. On the first day I loaded my samples and figured out the key-off issue I was having. Today I load my samples but when I try to "Convert MS To Program" it is not giving me the option to put into U-G, which is where I loaded to the first time with no problem. The only user bank it is letting me is all Int. and User A.

I see what is happening now. When I load the DX7 patches it ( the bank) changes to EXi. I went into global mode "basic" tab and changed bank back to HD-1. But now my DX7 patches are wiped. So I guess these cannot co-exist in same bank?

So if I just need for example 5 patches from DX7, load them to user G then write(save) those 5 one by one to a bank that has the EXi?Then go back and change user G to HD-1?

Yes but when working with more DX7 programs, you need PCG Tools

If you do that then you will not have the DX7 sounds in memory again.

Why not set bank U-G to HD-1 and set bank U-GG to EXi. This way you can have the best of both worlds and no need to load a PCG file to switch between HD-1 and EXi sounds.

Sharp

Well no but the ones I picked and need I sent to U-F. So now U-G is set to HD-1. I didnt want to bother a fresh bank since there are only a few patches I need. By few I mean 4 or 5. The engine thing is what I wasnt familiar with.
Thanks

OK, but I still think your better off setting yourself up with two fresh banks. One for your custom HD-1 sounds and one for EXi sounds.

6 Months from now you will have a lot more than just 5 custom sounds. Wink

Sharp.

Ok I see what you mean. I was referring to patches from DX7 download. But of course there will be more custom patches that use HD-1 or EXi

Thanks
