Most Combies using Karma are out of tune.

Post by k2000 »

Hi.
I have just switched on my Kronos after being away for a while and hear that most of the combies that use Karma are out of tune. They are stuck on some random notes and do not follow what is played on the keyboard.
The notes that they are stuck on are the same no matter what key is pressed to start of with.
Any ideas?

Thx in advance

Hmm, check your pitch bend. That can cause out of tune problems if there something wrong with it.

Pitch bend is ok :-)
Could it be a link which is broken as it is only combies in Bank I-A Presets 1,5,8,14,15,16 + + which sound terrible as these Karma arpeggios are completely wrong and in a different key.
I have installed most of QR´s sound sets on the Kronos.

Did you try a reboot?

Hi
If you have already performed the full restore with DVDs- and the
problem still persists - than I am afraid that it could mean that your
Kronos may be failed or defected.

I would definitely not recommend a full reinstall yet.
How about reloading an older PCG file? Or the factory one. Backup your current programs and combis first of course.

I have installed most of QR´s sound sets on the Kronos.
It's not something in my soundsets that's causing this. In the soundsets that I have available until now, none of them have custom KARMA GEs. Also the locations used in the factory combis aren't used in my sets.

I really have no clue what's happening on your kronos. I've tried to achieve the things you say by changing for instance the global transpose, but it keeps working correctly.

I think that the advice given loading the preload.pgc here in the other post is the way to go. Don't reinstall the system, I don't think that the problem lies there. Just backup your current sounds and load the preload.pcg again from your SSD.

Thx for all the advice.
It is probably a damaged preload.pcg i have not had the chance to replace it yet.
I was not implying that QR soundsets where the culprit, I was just stating that they are on my Kronos, and everyone who uses a Kronos that needs good sounds should buy them :)
I can recall that I had a problem booting once from the SSD a few weeks ago, but after switching the Kronos off and on again it booted fine, but i did not check the combies after that.
I will update the status when I get time to replace the preload.pcg.

I had noticed that too in the past. Just thought it was sloppy programming. I haven't noticed it after the last updates. Wonder if it might be fixed by an OS update? What version are you on?

2.06

I loaded the original preload.pcg and everything was fine.
So the old preload.pcg must have become corrupted.
I have never used the editor, maybe I can use it to salvage the old preload.pcg, I will give it a try and see if it is possible.
