I like it a lot!
Awesome keyboard, compliments to Korg!
Even if it's only slightly better than PA800, thant it's a winner, that's for sure.
PA800 still is the best arranger I've ever played.
But, one thing I don't understand:
Assignable switches -> not near the joystick.
For DNC-playing that's not too handy I think.

The only thing I'm excited about is....
"over 400 factory Styles, each with 4 variations and 4 Fill Ins + Breaks"
Eventually some good Samaritan will post them to the Internet, and I can add 400 more to the probably 10,000 I have already in my safe deposit box.
Seriously........I would consider buying it for a backup keyboard. The horror stories I hear occasionally about PA3x onstage crashes doesn't leave you much choice.
The remark about the keys reminded me of one of the main reasons why I bought the PA3x......the semi-weigted keys! It's hard to play on those keyboards with the cheap, plastic, unweighted entry level keys.......particularly when you do most of your practicing on a piano.

Korg once again is playing fast and loose with the audio power output specs. According to the specs, the TOTAL input power to the keyboard is 20W ... to get 2x20W out you would need roughly (40 / .66) + ~10W = ~70W ... Thats 40W out divided by 66% efficiency (if that) plus some power for the display and leds and cpu etc. My guess they're closer to ~5W rms each.Shahin wrote:http://www.korg.co.jp/Product/Synthesizer/Pa900/

So which is it Korg? Is the input power 20W or do you really have 2x20W speaker output. Can't have it both ways. (Unless you're using fantasy specs like PMPO etc)

actually isnt it weird that korg didnt say anything about speaker power on korg.com? all the other specs are listed except speaker ! only korg japan official website mentions 2 20 watt speakers with tweeter and 2 way bass reflex box. so i guess thats it. but again, why speaker wattage is not mentioned on korg international webpage? A simple human error maybe?!

No I don't think so. Some countries have laws now about how audio output power is spec'd. Some time ago a number of Japanese mfgs embraced the "Peak Music Power Output" figure of merit for audio output power. PMPO has never been a defined standard therefore it's hard to know from mfg to mfg how they're measuring. A rough estimate for PMPO is you measure the peak output of one channel for a duration of 1 cycle at 1KHz then multiply that number by 2. Of course this is not how we use the equipment in real life.Shahin wrote:actually isnt it weird that korg didnt say anything about speaker power on korg.com? all the other specs are listed except speaker ! only korg japan official website mentions 2 20 watt speakers with tweeter and 2 way bass reflex box. so i guess thats it. but again, why speaker wattage is not mentioned on korg international webpage? For those of you in the USA, do a Google search on 'CFR 16 Part 432'

The soundcloud demo quality is pretty sketchy, but one can extrapolate that this is going to sound great. Guitars are the best I've heard from Korg (still some way to go to match Yamaha from 5 years ago), but I like EDS and I think the overall sound quality will be good - Microstation still blows me away with what it does with just 49? mb of samples. Typically great Korg demo programming... well done
