So, i've ha this thing since June and have played it quite a bit for some recording as well as live performances. However, when playing live the head and rim sensors are way too sensitive. The bass activates the sensors constantly, especially when using something like a shaker, guiro, or chimes. I have tried to adjust the head and rim sensors with no luck. I play congas and the slaps will activate the drum. When I hot my cowbell, I get whatever patch I am using along with it. I have been turning the volume down, then back up when needed for chimes and for the conga or timbales, but that is a pain. And, when I want to play cowbells and timbale together, forget it. The timbale activateds on every cowbell stroke. With the guiro/shaker patch, 26 I think, I get constant activation on the WD that I think is caused by the bass guitar, so the rhythm sounds terrible.
Other than the head and rim sensors, is there any other modification I can make that might help? [/list]
Is WD Global too sensitive for live performance??

I do not know if my answers are kind of a solution , try /experiment yourself ...
Now
2 acoustic paths for false triggering :
1.) mechanical signals through the stand directly into the piezo (V-drums +Wavedrum)
2.) signals through the air , received by the skin. ( Wavedrum only ? maybe meshheads as well ??)
test for No 1 : hold the WD in your hand and hit the Conga
I think the main problem comes from the skin and the head piezo
test with isolated head and/or rim samples ...
help possible ?
use an exponential velocity curve for the samples

decouple as good as you can ...
-try to get away from direct bass guitar signals
-turn your personal monitor away from the WD
-lower the bass volume in your personal monitor (not really needed)
-mount the WD with foam material , or kind of a pillow between the stand and the rim
-loosen the WD skin
-put some foam material or a small towel inside the WD between "pressure sensor shield" and skin
By modifying the WD (cut a cable inside , solder and drill)
you can use a foot volume pedal or a footswitch and a potentiometer
and even a frequency filter (hard EQ) for the head piezo signal
to supress the critical X-talk frequencies .
somebody else in this forum with X-talk problems and false triggering , any solutions ??
