There is no actually freely accessible sample RAM. But I believe someone found a hack to create a custom set of samples with a computer utility, that you can then load into the Krome using an SD card or something.
16MB was mentioned. |

Oh oops sorry, yeah looks like it. I thought I remembered 16 from somewhere else?
Still, it's not exactly sample RAM comparable to other Korg workstations. |

Hello,
I never found a SAMPLE.IMG file greater than 16 MB.
I never tried to generate a sample file greater than 16MB.
If someone wants to disagree with me...I need some proofs _________________ Korg MicroX / Korg Monotron / Korg Nautilus / Korg X3 / Korg Krome / Alesis QS

Hi !
The real size or PCM option is 32 MB max, but the IMG/Sample Data become 16Mb after compression. So we can import the 32MB of sample KSC compressed at 16Mb META/SAMPLE data. |

Why is that Krome can read 8 bit user samples only ? |

I don't think that's correct; the Krome loads the same 16-bit samples that I've loaded into my Kronos, and they sound about the same...and this seems to be true of the Kross, too...

i have loaded exactly 32mb of samples into Krome but like someone mentioned i believe the program compresses the files when creating the meta and sample files. Korg Kross is the one that can only read 16mb vs 32 on the Krome. _________________ Korg Kronos 2,Korg Oasys 76, Korg 01W/fd, Korg im1 ipad, Korg Triton Extreme, Korg Triton Studio, Korg M3, Roland Integra 7, Yamaha Montage 7, Roland Fantom 6, Korg Nautilus, Korg PA4X, Korg Kross 2 |

I'm about to buy me a krome but I hear about the 8bits samples and that would be a deal breaker for me, do you say that the krome reads 16bits samples as the kronos?? Thanks !! |

The Krome reads 16-bit samples...I don't know where yank got the info about the Krome "read[ing] 8-bit samples only", but it's incorrect, so don't let that stop your purchase....

The IMG processing convert 16bit samples to 8bits (mono) samples (that explains why the size is always half the original) to add user waveforms.
This is for external waveforms only... internal waveforms are 16bit.
For reading Wav sample directly from USB, this is 16bit sample. But the use is different. |

This must be some kind of "lossless" conversion / compression when 16-bit user samples are converted to 8-bit in the IMG files...and are the samples then converted back to 16-bit when loaded and played back in the Krome?...as I said, I can't hear much (if any) difference between the playback of the same 16-bit user samples on the Kronos, Krome, or Kross - OK, these are vibraphone samples (not very complex waveforms) and old person ears, but still...???
