My Krome-88 sounds and feels fabulous... well, except for any Combi involving the magnificent KROME Grand Piano. (This is my current understanding.) When there is a note cutoff I get anything from a smooth cutoff to a tick to a loud crack. On average the sound is not unlike a dusty vinyl record with occasional loud pops that sound like electric discharges. The instrument generates this noise instead of just silencing notes exceeding the 128 voice limit.

My retailer takes the position that this is normal and to be expected. My position is that these patches cannot be used for public performance or recording. Practice is ok, kind of.
I'd like to hear from other users. Did you manage get past this hurdle and solve the problem? I have upgraded to OS 1.0.3 and use quality monitors/headphones.

Answering my own question. I spent a day or so to document the problem (including a test recording) and turned it in to the (previously rather unhelpful) dealer for repair. The workshop kept it for over a month. It seemed they had a hard time recognizing the problem. Then suddenly it was returned to me with a replaced mainboard. That's roughly the equivalent of a brain transplant. My guarantee claim was honored.
The problem was gone and I was very happy. This whole thing had wasted a lot of my time and caused a lot of head scratching.
My guess is that there may be a design problem in some versions of the mainboard. This is based on other reports in this forum. It seems Korg does not officially admit to it, but if you press hard they will fix it.

I had the same problem, took it back to the dealer who sent it to Korg, they replaced the mother board or main board and said it had a "corrupt" piano sample!
Push your dealer to send it back or contact Korg if you didn't get it through a dealer, it seems to be a common fault that they are aware of!

KORG KROME PIANO NOTE CUT OFF FIX!
A HUUUUGE thank you to all of you who posted about the MicroSD card swap solution to the Korg Krome note cutoff problem. The instructions posted were easy to follow and I used a SanDisk 16 Gig class 10 card and problem solved for $10! Big thumbs down to Korg for now intervening in what is obviously a huge problem. NOTE: I copied and wrote the image from my keyboards original card to the new one. I really don't think you need to download a "clean" image for it work, it's really a card read problem, not a problem with the image, just my take on it.
