Serial: 000795

Firmware: No idea, probably 1.0. No sd card, so all the card related stuff including firmware details and upgrade is gone from the menu.

Store: dj_culture on trademe.co.nz, a user who retails music gear on trademe on behalf of Music Planet, specifically the Queen street store in Auckland. Their site has them as well but last I checked the description was copy+pasted from the esx1. Side note: this guy has been awesome, mine shipped without an AU/NZ power adapter (they're added by the NZ distributor, and he forgot to check it was there) so he refunded me $20NZD to cover the cost of batteries while the power brick gets here.

Country: New Zealand. They're shipping here and presumably in Australia as well.

Hello :)

Where can I find these informations? I had a look at the sticker on the bottom side, but nothing about the firmware ...

I'm new here, and the Electribe2 is my first music machine, and I looove it!

Cheers!

If you don't know which firmware you're on, update it to v1.03, the latest firmware. Download it here... http://i.korg.com/SupportPage.aspx?productid=717

Follow the instructions fully.

Thanks, but I read somewhere else that upgrading to FW 1.03 caused some problems on some units, and the people who want to do it should be aware ... I have it since less than 1 week, and made some nice tunes.

I would prefer to know how to backup my patterns before doing a FW upgrade ...

I don't know where to start on this forum ...

I probably will do the upgrade, but I want to be sure that I won't loose anything by doing it.

Cheers!

Unit # 001146 here. I don't know the firmware version, but "if it ain't broke don't fix it" is my philosophy about upgrades.

If you are not running 1.3 then you have an OS with known bugs and possibly a pattern change gap. (Even version 1.2 locked up on playback a few times for me.)

1.3 has a few bugs, but is more stable. It is improving with each release. You can use a cheap SD card (2 gigs is plenty) and upgrade - or at least use the card data utility (active only with a card inserted) to check version, and for fun stuff like audio and pattern export, etc.

Unless a lot of people are bricking their units at no fault of their own, each new OS is going to have less errors and possible new features.

This is a case where it is broke. It's broke by Korg's design.

10 years ago, electronics had brains that were almost always locked down in factory, undergoing deeper pre-release testing and finalization. The DSP was simpler, the code was lighter.

Now that firmware updates are standard, companies release hardware knowing that it is buggy but can be fixed later. It reduces R&D cost - users are expected to troubleshoot in exchange for a few highly requested added features.

The EMX had one (?) firmware update that addressed once specific issue, as I recall. Those days are over.

Just back up anything you want to keep to your sd card first & thenperform the firmware upgrade. In fact when i installed v1.03 my patterns were still intact.

It did work fine on my Electribe ... I'm now working with FW 1.03, but my unit was already under FW 1.02 ...

Is there a section here where we can present ourself to the community? I have few questions about recording myself but I have a MacBook Air and I think I will need an external USB soundcard with line in ...

Cheers,

C.
