Another problem, similar to changing key while turning cutoff is trying to add or lower grove depth while controlling the cutoff knob for example. This is a problem when you want for snare rolls increase cutoff while decreasing the groove depth.

I haven't watched the full video, but besides pitch modulation, you can also use the resonance to make decent kicks. (Use a positive eg Int setting and add a lot of resonance till you hear a 'tone'. Now use decay to control the speed.
