Those patterns he's playing aren't very inspiring...

hi, thanks for replying I was about triggering patterns from my daw, not programming the electribe parts from it. ..basically I would like to build patterns on the electribe, and then put them in sequence from logic. As electribe 2 has no song mode there must be a way to trigger different patterns ...

Each part has the same midi channel as it's part number. 1-16.

Another thing that should be mentioned is that you can setp up the ES2 to trigger notes of a certain scale. That's not possible afaik on the MPC. I thought this was possible with JJOSXL am I wrong? The MPC is a much better piece of hardware overall BUT I do not find it very inspiring musically. You only get out of it exactly what you put in, literally. I figured there had to be some kind of timestretching. Some of the default patterns allow you to change the tempo and the sample loops seem elastic on some level.

Start with just hooking the ES2 up to the midi out on the RM1x and use the RM1x as the master clock.

You shouldn't need to run midi out of the ES2 back in to the Yamaha.

Here's how I've had the most fun with this "sampler". Load up random sample, mangle it and make it fit in to whatever project you're working on. Trying to plan anything out with a specific loop and get predictable, sampler like results out of it has made me want to drive over it with my car.

As a long time sampler user, my first tip is to buy a different sampler. The ES2 is fine for sample playback and mangling but the sampling and file management functionality is feeble even by 1995 standards.

Yes. No issues with mine. I'd start with a fresh all samples file and see if that helps.

I (as an owner of the E2 sampler) don't see how this is a "problem", or why Korg must in some way "respond" to this.
