Agreed. I got a brand new 73 for $2200. Seemed like a good deal to me (esp. thinking about what an Oasys used to cost!!)...

I thought much of the point of the Solaris was emulation of classics The Solaris has emulations of a number of classic oscillators and filters, but I don't think it was ever intended to be a straight "VA." It's the modular nature of the routing, and the ability to mix and match in a way that would ...

The "One-knob-one-feature" layout of the Sledge is great. But the sound simply comes from a cut down Waldorf Blofeld version. If you like the Blofeld sound, that's fine. But you neither get remotely something like the KK filter variety nor it's basic smoother sound. So no, I don't think that there ...

What would compare to KK from other brands price/sound wise? I mean another synth in the same range...just for the hell of it. Studiologic Sledge might be worth a look. It can be operated entirely from the front panel (in a one-knob-per-function way). Classic subtractive synthesis architecture ...

Re: AL-1 vs King Korg

I've been looking at the King korg but I have to wonder, can it do anything that I can't do on my Kronos with my Al-1 engine? Sure, it has a tube but I can figure a way to emulate that with my IFX and an amp. I do like the fact that it has a lot of knobs but the Kronos has a bunch and I can assign ...

Well, my Kronos just arrived today (!), so I haven't used the inputs yet, but I do plan to, sometimes as a submixer (will probably run my XTk through it), and sometimes as an external FX unit for my analogs.

New Kronos 73 on the way...

I realize that "hey, I just got my new Kronos" threads are old news and generally BORING, but I just couldn't help myself. I can't believe I've waited so long to get on board with the big K. I was ALL OVER this when it was first announced, and I must have contributed about 300 posts to all of the ...

Three things I listen for with analog filters: 1. amount and power of bite/growl in low-pass filter when I do a big filter sweep with low/mid resonance. 2. "musicality" (vs. shrieking, ear-piercing squelch) of high resonance settings. 3. how soft and warm the low-pass filter can sound with filter ...

Who's it for? Seems pretty clear to me: gigging musicians and those looking for an entry-level workstation. I imagine it will sell in big numbers. Does it deserve its own subforum here? Of course. It's a new high-profile workstation, and lots of users will want a place for dedicated discussion of it ...

Still don't have my Kronos, but plan to pick one up eventually (after the dust from revamping the rest of my little studio settles). I guess I can't really vote at this point (!), but the two engines I'm most looking forward to are SGX-1 and MOD-7...
