I've gotten the R3 to work in Pro-Tools 8 (LE) via MIDI (controlling a soft synth) using the USB connection. I'll need to check the settings when I get home tonight. I'm pretty sure I used the "r3 kbd/knob" setting in the Midi set-up in Pro-tools for the R3. Then on the Midi track I select the R3 ...

Like the posters above me, the problem is apparently intermittent / random, as now I get a full stereo signal in the heaphones again. It would still be good to know what is causing this problem though (as I'd prefer not to hold by breath to see when the left channel is going to go out again).

I get a weird "static/wind" sound in the headphones or amp when I turn on the R3. I just assumed this was normal.

What is not normal is that the left channel in the headphones is now muted / distorted / muffled. I'm hoping that is not a hardware issue.
