check out if there's no midi control information on the styles or midi files to cause those modifications, namely "1. Increacing sound automatically. 2. Change in tones and Rythem automatically. ".

I don't have that problem, but mine is not old. I believe that you may need to replace the screen when it gets old.

By the way, do you have a delay when changing styles in the Pa50? In mine, if I change a style for another without stopping playing, I always have a fraction of second of interruption in between the styles... even when I change between STS while playing the upper sections I have a fraction of time ...

Ya, That's what I have been doing but for this I loose one degree of freedom. ;) The Pa 50 has also the option to use the controller keyboard to play with the sound set to one of the upper layers.
