Your reply should have been to roll your eyes, throw up your hands, and say, "Everyone's a producer!!"

Like they say, there's no accounting for taste.

Just did a few experiments with the 2-Voice Resonator. Interesting... I found that I could get a decent amount of extra bottom end by using only one of the two voices (keep voice 1's level set at 100 and turn voice 2's level all the way down), and setting the voice pitch to a very high note rather ...

The resonator IFX is definitely worth a try. It will create a fixed formant with one or two bands. But FWIW, EQ's are indeed resonators, and there's no rule saying that an EQ can't (or shouldn't) be resonant. If that were the case, EQ's wouldn't have a bandwidth control and the ability to set high ...

In his posts above, Kevin has nailed a ton of key points about STR-1, including programming techniques. In some respects he's right about it being a bit of a tricky synth model, in part because it's such a different method of generating sound than the subtractive synth model that many of you are ...

You'll only get a definitive answer from someone who's familiar enough with the Kronos's power supply to advise if it will be OK or not running on square wave power. Meanwhile, going for a pure sine wave unit is the safest bet. Price wise... I don't know about availability of refurbished units in ...

Re: Definate Possible Screen Bug

Dear Mr. Disclaimer Professional Kay, I work exclusively outside in the dark at night on my Kronos, and up until now I've been plagued by flying insects drawn to the glow of the screen. Needless to say, I read your post with enthusiasm and took your advice. I made super sure to angle the nozzle to ...

As soon as you release the keys, the release stage kicks in, so I'm not sure (other than some kind of strange bug) how the sustain stage of the envelope would kick in retroactively. So... Are you using a half-damper pedal by any chance? Also, check the half-damper pedal setting in the program. If it ...

Cello, I'm not looking to rub salt in your wound, OK? Just chiming in with a perspective. You're free (of course) to take or leave it. Anyone who bought the Oasys had an opportunity to acquire an amazing keyboard instrument/workstation that simply wasn't available at any other price. Or any other ...

Nowtime,

All of those are (IMO) useless. Try this link for inexpensive UPS's:

www.refurbups.com

Check out the "Smart UPS" models (pure sine wave output), though avoid the rack mount models (fans are too noisy for studio use).

True (to an extent), but the context of what I wrote was that when you're playing back samples, it doesn't matter whether they're being read out of RAM or ROM. A sample is a sample. a sampler allows the user to both add their own samples and substantially edit or replace the factory presets That's ...

Some perspectives... Any keyboard instrument or plugin that plays back samples is a "sample playback device". The distinction that one might be a sampler and the other a rompler are mere technicalities. A sample is a sample, regardless of the electronic domain in which its data is played from (i.e ...

Even on big tours the PA and lighting aren't on UPS's, though sometimes they'll be on isolated, generator power. That aside, a UPS will save your keyboards, computer, etc. from data loss and potentially from getting fried in any situation where power outages are likely or frequent. But more ...

In the event any of you work in a location that's prone to power outages, and FWIW, a power conditioner won't do squat. What you need in these situations is an uninterruptible power supply ("UPS").

I'm just curious, 'cause it's hardwired in the OS for the Realtime Control slider #3, and it doesn't seem to do much but accentuate whats already going on. What effect CC79 is going to have on a sound depends on how the sound is programmed. I agree with Dan that if you're not sure about what Filter ...
