dont you mean phat? I think I opened up a can of worms with my comments on things being "warm", "phat", or whatever. I've owned and listened to a handful of synths both analogue and virtual analogue, and I understand the difference in sound between the two. My point was that I've so far ...

While I think that can indeed be the case, I do think different VAs have hugely varying sound quality, depending on how well they were programmed.

For example, in the world of VSTs, Sylenth sounds ten times better than V-Station to my ears.

Ok maybe not particularly fat, but definitely warmer than the AKAI/Novation stuff IMO.

"And don't call me Shirley." LOL Why Shirley? Is there something I missed related with vocoders and Shirley? I think it's the standard joke after someone starts a sentence with "surely".. like I did above... also see: Airplane (movie) If its the VA you are looking at it for have you looked into ...

Are you going to be playing it live? Are you playing with a band? Is this your first synth? You can buy a used Radias-R for less than an R3. Also you should take into account what you want out of it. Are you buying because its a VA? Vocoder? It's for a studio and would never be gigged. Not my first ...

 Tell me, am I right to obsess over an R3? I get the feeling it is a bit of a dark horse. I don't know why people don't talk about it more. Surely it has a lot going for it when compared to other keyboard synths in similar price range: Micron/Miniak/Ion Roland SH201/Gaia Novation Xio/Ultranova ...

Question about Korg R3

Hi guys. I've been obsessing over getting an R3 for quite a while. My impression of it is that it's like a cut down, portable Radias. I know it comes with editor software, but I wanted to know, are all the parameters available from the front of the keyboard - In other words, can I fully exploit the ...

Korg Kontrol 49 with Ableton Live... Any tips?

Hi Korg/Live users.

Just got a Kontrol 49 today.

Managed to get the pads to control a drum rack, but still struggling to get the mixer control, or the "blue hand" control with the sliders and rotaries.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Doesn't matter, I bought it in the end. The pads are fine. Not as good as the PadKontrol pads, but certainly good enough for some dynamic drumming. My main concern was that they might need to be struck really hard to get a response (like the Novation Remote drum pads) -- but they respond well to a ...

Korg Kontrol 49 - What are the drum pads like?

Hi guys. There is a local guy selling a Kontrol 49 for 150 euro. I'm tempted, but only if the drum pads are worthwhile. I've read conflicting opinions on what the drum pads are like on the Kontrol 49. I know they are different from the PadKontrol, but the PK has some of the best pads around. So, if ...
