Fair enough! I've got a classic piano background, then went into reggae in college. But I mostly write and record guitar/bass/drum pop numbers and have finally been thinking I need to start adding keyboard tracks. I've got a Hammond XK-5 full outfit (their top-end digital Hammond), a Clav D6, and my ...

Upgrading Fantom G7 to Kronos 2 73: any downsides?

I'm quite happy with my 2007 first-owner G7, but I'd like better grand pianos and otherwise to step a generation ahead if I can do so at good cost. I can get a Kronos 2 73 in Korg case, nearly mint, including tax and shipping, from a store, with warranty/return, for about $1450. I think I can sell ...

OK, here's the conclusion of my research: M1 has 99 built-in Multisounds in its 2Mword (4MB) sound ROMs. The list is on page 137 of the M1 Owner's Manual, available at https://www.korg.com/us/support/download/manual/1/139/1685/ The T1 has 189 built-in Multisounds in its 4Mword (8MB) sound ROMS. The ...

I'm not sure why you think I'm talking patches. I'm only talking samples. Are you saying that T3's 8MB samples are identical to the M1 EX's 8MB samples? And therefore any patch you make on one can be made on the other? Curious if their output would be sample-by-sample utterly identical, or is there ...

Thanks T3Owner! So I'm curious, if the T3 has 4MWord (8MByte) ROM, but is missing things like the M1's famous cutting dance piano... And the M1 EX has all of the T-Series ROM sounds in its 4MWord (8MByte) ROM... and has the Dance Piano... How is that possible? I mean, there's at least one waveset ...

> The Multisounds shown are the ones in the T-Series models that are in addition to those found in a base (non-EX) M1.

OK, are they exactly the T1 sounds? Or are they just the same name and similar?

And what T1 sounds are not available?

Thanks crimson thunder, but the link is broken?

And if it's a list of the extra waves in the EX that'd be great to see but do you know how many ARE T1 waves? Or how many are LIKE T1 waves?

Thanks again.

M1R EX vs. T1 vs. M1 waveforms?

I've heard things that don't fit together. 1) Korg M1 has 2Mword/4MB of samples 2) Korg T1/2/3 have double the sample memory--4Mword/8MB--but lack some of the old samples such as the famous hard-sounding "Dance Piano." 3) M1R EX has double the sample memory--again 4Mword/8MB. which "include the T3 ...

Nice to get a post on a 2-year-old thread. Sorry I don't have any specific advice, but I would say that if any such company is hiring, they'd look very favorably on any computer/audio-related projects you could do. So while you're looking, spend every second you can on this type of work. Even if ...

Re: DW-8000 Portamento Input Mod

Can you please post pics / the installation procedure? I would really like to do this but I'm not tech enough to do it on my own. Would have to outsource this. Thanks. If you give the description to a keyboard tech, he should be able to get it working. I recall the circuit board is clearly labelled ...

DW-8000 Transpose Trick

Hang a small bag off the pitchbend joystick... set the pitchbend to your required transpose...

Surely most synths will have some trick like this but the joystick made it especially easy on the 8000.

DW-8000 32' waveform trick

Use the Autobend at max bend (=1 oct) and min speed. With a short-enough note, this simply gets you a 32' (or 2' if you really need it) setting. I don't think the oscillators are really happy with that much autobend plus an octave pitch bend, but you might start getting some digital dirt if you want ...

DW-8000 Patch Change Trick

Lock the Program Bank. Use a foot pedal to advance the patch. That will simply cycle between 8 patches.

You can then do so in a rhythmic matter while playing (eg, tapping your foot in time on the pedal) and get changing waveforms, even on sustained notes.

DW-8000 Input Mod

I had the portamento jack of my DW-8000 wired to the noise source. Without a cable the noise source was connected, but you could plug in a sound input (eg guitar). At that point, the guitar appeared at the filter inputs and went through the digital delay. With high resonance and the arpegiator it ...

DW-8000 Random Patch Trick

Just hit the 1-8 keys madly and randomly for a few seconds while moving the data slider up and down. I've never used another keyboard that was so easy to randomize parameters for, and the results were often interesting. (And if not, randomize some more--or switch to a stored patch and start ...
