Was the krome working normally before the blow? Never just enter Format (its meant for the factory), if there is hardware error and you don't have factory recovery procedure. Very simple the blow shocked mechanical movement inside causing broken contacts. Check inside (use magnifier) all the boards ...

When the krome got the blow, was it powered up in working status? The crappy designed OS memory is a socket microSD-card with mechanic contacts. The "Format internal memory, Push {ENTER}: Exexute format" means: no data or corrupted accessing with the internal microSD-card or other internal memory ...

If I remember correctly 2 mins 40 secs bootup time is normal, ask other owners.
The boot time added will be longer if its also loading the soundpacks from the extended SD card.
Let it be if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Korg have incompetent engineers. Why is the microSD replacement needed in the first place? In this age you can use superhighspeed UHS-1 microSD with 90MB/s readspeed. The increased boot time suggest an improperly formatted SD card like 4GB with 4k cluster size with standard windows formatter? -If ...

If its intermittent after powered-up some time means overheated hardware/bad contacts. Most likely is the overheated lead-free balls on the bga- chips/processors, which will brittle in time loosing electric contact with the mainboard, causing the sympthoms. After shutdown/cooling down it will ...

Is a firmware inside FPGA is like a "hardware cells configuration" before soldering. "FPGA-Code" is more or less the same as "Firmware". There is no official definition or standard, also no defacto standard. The problem is the lack of a solution from KORG engineering, because we are talking about ...

The issue is sporadic going worse. Replacing the micro sdCard doesn´t helps, I tested the sdCard in another Krome and runs flawlessly. Since its not totally dead and keeps working/failing intermittently during warm-up/cooling-down is mostly bad solderjoints, ie BGA solderballs. FPGA's doesn't have ...
