I use a K88 as my main board, and only board when I can. When needed, I'll add an upper board based on either the action or sounds. Some shows are actually scored for Roland XP-80's sounds. If the Kronos is supplying the sounds, then the upper board is selected for either a semi-weighted synth ...

Thanks to Mike's help, I got it working. I ended up programming both compressors the same, but one controlled by JS +Y, and the other controlled by JS -y, then set the vector control to xfade +Y (cc01) and -Y (cco2) It all works great. It does consume a lot of IFX, though, since the program itself ...

Thanks so much for the reply. That helps tremendously. By "two sets of same sound", I take it to mean I have to setup a combi, and duplicate the program? I couldn't find any way to send the output from a single program to both L/R and 1/2. (It seems like this should be possible, but oh well.) So the ...

Programming help needed: vector panning

I need to program the vector joystick to control panning. 1) a single program where VC -x and VC+x control panning the output L/R 2) a single program like above, but where VC -y and VC +y also pan the sound to outputs 1 & 2. (Actually, I'd like VC +y, for example to control the volume of output 1 ...

I agree that some general overview could help to get my head wrapped around all this. So far, I've managed to do everything I've needed (which is less than 1% of this machine's capabilities), but have been mostly confused and often surprised. Where did that file come from? What's in that file? Why ...

Thanks for the tips. I'll try setting the pedal to expression - that seems like the most straightforward approach.

Control the volume of individual output with pedal?

I have a combi where most voices go to the main L/R outputs, but one is routed to individual output 1.

My pedal is set to control volume, which works fine for the L/R outputs, but doesn't affect the volume at output 1. How do I setup so the pedal also controls the volume of output1?

Need programming help - harp glissando in combi

I need to create a combi with keyboard splits where one zone is used to trigger a harp glissando (need an A7 glissando triggered by one key) I'm unsure of the best way to accomplish this: Maybe I could configure that zone and somehow have Karma produce the glissando? I could sequence the glissando ...

Kronos at DNC

FYI,
I was just watching the Democratic National Convention and noticed that James Taylor's keyboard player was playing a Kronos.

I was surprised seing the results of this poll: I thought everyone is using software sequencers these days for any serious sequencing. It's not surprising because many people who hang out at music forums are amateurs or weekend warriors. They don't do serious sequencing. That makes no sense since ...

@StephenKay,
Brilliant! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I would never have figured that all out on my own.
The only thing better than having such a capable keyboard is to have a forum like this and such knowledgeable and helpful people like Stephen to help take advantage of its capabilities.

Narf, Thanks so much for the walkthrough. I've fumbled my way through this process twice now, always missing a key step, and being generally confused. My notebook now has your instructions in it so I won't be so lost the next time. I think this is a case where the UI comes up short. As a rule, it ...

A little progress..l I tried setting this up with a second xylophone timbre on ch3, then setting Karma (module A) to take global ch as input, and output to ch 3. This has two problems: 1) the "roll", which works great if Karma output is to gch, now has a horrible stutter when output to ch3. I don't ...
