I have a Korg Kronos and Nord Stage 2 too... but a SV2 would be cool. There's something about the vibe of the SV1 which was appealing... I played a lot with mine.. I felt the cool look (esp the custom stand) and simplified controls were very attractive although the action was the weak point. The ...

I have owned a MOTIF and currently use a Kronos. While I like the Kronos and see how the number of possibilities with the different sound engines could influence someone, I believe the MOTIF (esp the XF) is no slouch. Indeed sound for sound I out of the box I think MOTIF has better bread and butter ...

RAM slots on Korg Kronos

I have just upgraded my Kronos with an extra SSD drive and also did the RAM upgrade at the same time. I was suffering from the often touted SYSTEM failure error and noticed some posts about the SSD connections being wrong from the factory… when I switched over I still got the SYSTEM failure error b ...

I too was thinking about the VPC1 and hooking it up to my K61. Looks great… a big part of playing piano is how it feels. If it feels great it will inspire the player to get better and better... The RH3 does not feel that great (my SV-1 put me off Korg weighted actions for life) … I also have a Nord S ...

Yeah I had the Z1 and also a CX3 for a while. It was a great set up… more than capable for a rehearsal… unless you really need piano or something… but tell em that will come later :)

If you need a Kronos just for rehearsal for the time being I would simply just use another board until the Kronos 2 comes out.

Thanks for the replies I think I understand now. I will probably order the RAM and fit the SSD drive I have (Sandisk Ultra II 240 GB).

I also need to get a cable to connect the SSD. Any idea how long this should be? Would 50cm be enough ? (seems the standard size I see).

Thanks Jeremy, I am wondering what the RAM upgrade was required for? Previous to the sample streaming I would imagine the extra RAM was there for adding additional user samples.. but now I don't know…

Reason for RAM upgrade

Folks, just wondering what the rationale for the RAM upgrade on standard Kronos is? I have an original KRONOS from early 2012. I know that since OS2.0 we got sample streaming and I've bought a new SSD drive to allow for bigger samples to be accessed but the rationale for the upgrade to 3GB (3.25 GB ...

The only Korg that ever failed me was the Korg SGX Grand rack piano… (faulty PSU) bloody awful unit… sold a Rhodes (and a lot else besides) to get that..

Hope you get your PSU sorted!

Not sure why anybody would need 2 Kronos' or should that be Kroni? ;) I actually don't see much advantages at all… they are plenty powerful for any application… I could see the point of an additional controller keyboard hooked up to a Kronos though.. Kronos 88 for piano duties on the bottom with lig ...

Super stuff from Korg… unheard of to be offering these kinds of updates this late in the product lifecycle… they could have easily left us at 2.x and started a new product line… Its certainly not perfect (I still dislike the form based GUI for the synths and I wish that EP1 would get updated) but Ove ...

BRILLIANT STUFF KORG! No idea why people are complaining about paying a fee for the new piano. Korg don't have to do anything else in terms of giving additional support to the Kronos if they don't have to. It is over 3 years old after all! The fact they are giving us 3.0 is incredibly generous from ...

I quite enjoyed using the analogue wav samples in the normal PCM engine… some nice Oberheim Matrix 12 waveforms in there IIRC. I have an Oberheim Matrix 12 and can say there is nothing quite like the real thing but to have those waveforms was a nice discovery.. .. not to get into an argument.. but t ...
