Because it is a calling

The piano/keyboard insists that I play, and without playing I am incomplete and have that constant nagging that I need to be playing.

I agree ... get a Kronos 61 and a light 88 key controller

Casio has an 88key fully weighted controller that's only 25 pounds! its being used by Tom Brislin on the current Kansas tour, so it clearly has to be up to whatever job you have in mind.

I just LOVE this Kronos forum! For what its worth, I'm still waiting on my SE 61 from Sweetwater, so can't tell you its state on arrival. I wonder if the delay has been that they've been getting rejected on arrival from Korg as I've gotten multiple ship dates only for them to quietly go by with no ...

Sorry to be too brief ... I just ran into the fact that my store did not get their SE stock in late February as had been committed. Instead they now expect them from Korg at the end of March. I don't understand why Korg would be having trouble manufacturing them on schedule given they are the same ...

So far here in the US, it looks like the price of the Kronos SE is equal to the price of the non-SE model of the same size. I might go for the non-SE model as the SE ship date appears to have slipped over a month already. Don't understand why given how few the differences are?

Maybe just plan a pilgrimage to Sweetwater periodically, possibly combine it with Keyfest.

Music minus one and Fake books

Back in the day there was a series "Music minus one" that I used, though that was primarily for practicing improvisation on my Trombone (haven't touched it in forever). Lately, I've been using Karma + the Drum program on my Kronos with various stock combi-s. I would love a means to build my ...

I gig rarely but haven't had a problem with my original k88 and a soft case with wheels. On the other hand, I DO worry about space-constrained venues not having enough room for the keyboard.

well, maybe not VGA...

These days, I'd be very happy with video over the USB connection, or maybe a display port/thunderbolt connection. VGA seems so obsolete, even if I DO have a number of old 19/20" VGA monitors hanging around.

I do try to use local businesses whenever I can. Maybe I just don't know the right store(s) in Seattle. I was never a GC fan, particularly after the vulture capitalists got their talons into it. But, its not like when I lived near NYC and had loads of options.

Seems like online is the only game in town these days, and that one must depend on online reviews and great customer service to figure out the right item(s) for your needs. Wow has the world changed. I find it very difficult to conceive of purchasing a new Keyboard, or many of the supporting pieces ...

Where do YOU buy your Kronos & related stuff?

This weekend I finally dropped into my local Guitar Center, the retail store from whom I purchased my Kronos, and whom I had expected to go through for a few things I'm feeling I need. Now, I know Guitar Center is not the greatest, but it was the place I could count on to have most of the equipment ...

Music stand too far away

Due to the second tier on my stand, a simple music stand can't get close enough, unless I play with my head turned almost 90 degrees, and that just won't work for me.

Trying to figure out a good way to view music at my Kronos

I love my Kronos, and for the most part love the stand I have for it. But, even after a few years I haven't found a good, not to even think of great, solution for viewing music while playing my Kronos. The stand I have is a two-tier stand. The bottom tier hold the kronos, the top I use for a shelf ...

thank you for posting

I hadn't heard/seen much of his work yet ... just a few Kronos demos. I have to say it reminds me of Return to Forever at their best (saw them live in Buffalo around 1977).
