Wishing for a monophonic mode.

I love playing monophonic keyboards with last-note-priority. That means when I'm holding down one note and press another. the last note I played cancels the previous note. I can do some very rapid leads on monophonic boards that are much harder to do on polyphonic boards like the MS1. I have two ...

Numbered patch/arp keys "sticky" on original Micro

when I got my used original Microkorg in 2011, every control worked perfectly except the 3 button, which was a bit stubborn to actuate sometimes. I put up with it because it was really no big deal. But now, in 2017, the 3 button works fine and two other numbered buttons are acting like the 3 used to ...

I think I get it now. I'm only on my first cup of coffee so I'll struggle to explain. Turn the EDIT SELECT knob to OSC 1. With knob 1 select 'Sin' for sine wave. Turn the EDIT SELECT knob to OSC 2. Set to 'SAu' for saw. Now turn the EDIT SELECT knob to OSC 1 and the display still says "saw." The ...

Sounds like a system glitch to me. A reset might be in order. I've always been able to set my OSC1 and OSC2 independently with no problem. Question: Are you using the knobs and matrix to set the OSC's or are you using the editor/librarian? I've never had glitches in the MK itself but occasionally I ...

My MK is MIDI'd to a Korg Microsampler. Using the MS pattern sequencer with quantize I can save any MK noodle and play it back rhythmically perfect. The MS isn't a step sequencer but I find this setup easier to use than a step sequencer. And I'm not a very good keyboard player. (I also have a CZ-101 ...

That would be revolutionary!

The randomizers I've used are very hit and miss. If it randomized "slightly" to "moderately" from a given patch, that would certainly result in many interesting and useful sounds. That feature alone could put your editor ahead of the pack!

How about a selectable parameter patch randomizer? I have this on XL and Micron editors but I most want it on my favorite synth, the original Microkorg. It might be on the Mac version MK editor but I use PCs.

For a Microkorg piano approximation try: http://microkorgcookbook.tumblr.com/post/59849466034/grand-piano-patch The piano wave on the XL is generally considered "not bad." For a more accurate piano sound you can probably find a cheap used rompler. Mid to late 90's Yamaha romplers had some great ...

The metronome will only count 1,2,3,4. But, like electrolegs suggests, if you adjust the bar length and ignore the "ding" you can record in whatever time signature you wish. 3 x 4 = 4 x 3. Dig?

This is a follow-up to an earlier post. Yes I did trade the Micron for an MS and haven't regretted it for a minute. I love this little beast. It works exactly as I'd hoped. Whenever a line I'm trying to play is not rhythmically precise enough, I play it into the MS sequencer w/ quantize and then ...

I use my Microsampler similarly. I like to hand play all my synth parts but I'm not a great keyboard player. To get some very tight initial tracks I play the parts into the MS pattern sequencer with quantize, then use MIDI to send the sequence to the synth of my choice. This is actually why I got ...

Wow! Thanks for the great info! I'll probably spring for an XL+ before this time next year. I just blew my seasonal synth "allowance" on a Minibrute. The 'brute is a blast but my MK is till my favorite. It's almost a chore sometimes to play some of my other boards but the MK is always like playing ...

How do MK patches sound on XL?

If I understand correctly, all patches for the original Microkorg can be loaded into the XL. My question is, how does the sound of such a patch when played on the XL compare to the sound when played on the original MK? I love my MK. I'm tempted by the big library of patches for the XL and by the 640 ...
