On the back of the machine, the "X" behind the Kronos logo is missing.... ;-) I would not worry about any other problem until it appears -- at which point you can rely on the Korg customer support to fix it. The dealer probably wanted to get rid of this shelf warmer to get room for newer machines ...

Thanks a bunch for the code. I'll try and have a look at it during my vacations and see what I can learn from it. As written before, I am tinkering with the idea of writing some Linux based software for the Kronos. I will certainly contact you before I put out anything related to your code.

Why do people buy a workstation like the Kronos if, what they really want, is an arranger keyboard like the Pa3X? ;) OK, I have to admit that this was neither a constructive nor a too serious comment. But from the questions raised in this forum, I am sometimes really wondering why people here have ...

If it's just for backup purposes, then you can use the Linux 'dd' command to clone the raw disk or to create an offline disk image in a file on a second disk.

Maybe some kind folks here in the forum would be willing to mail you copies of their installation DVDs?

Since you want to make a copy of a Linux disk, there is always the possibility to use a live-CD or -DVD based Linux distribution like Knoppix for this purpose. Partitioning and formatting the new disk as well as copying the contents of the old disk to new one is straightforward. Creating a boot ...

You have my sincerest sympathies. But to me it sounds as if your Kronos had a screw loose somewhere.... ;-) If you crawl under your Kronos while it is sitting on its stand, do you get the impression that all holes in its bottom plate are filled with screws? Do these screws give your screw driver the ...

And from a software developer's perspective I would classify this bug as minor since the impact on the overall functionality of the Kronos is not dramatic and since there is a simple work-around available: check the "Multiple Select" but then select only one multi-sample. Even if they already know ...

Maybe we can pester Korg into re-issuing the OASYS PCI card -- just with the new Kronos features and software. Then you would not need to disassemble your Kronos in order to merge it with your powerful PC. I'd certainly buy one of these if it were supported under Linux (which -- seeing the lack of ...

Connecting the OASYS subsystem board (I guess that is what this »shark« board really is) to a PC and booting this PC from the Kronos SDD would probably work as long as the motherboard and CPUs of the PC are supported by the Linux kernel of the Kronos (which may very well be the case if selected c ...

I can confirm this with my Kronos X OS v2.1.0. Some additional observations: It is the scrolling which seems to interfere with proper selection of multi-samples to be removed when the "Multiple Select" is unchecked. If I select a multi-sample from the visible list without scrolling, then only the ...

Well, your hypothesis may to be correct -- with some caveat (see below). I just set the date of my Kronos X way back into the past, rebooted and -- lo and behold! -- my spanking brand new Kronos claimed that the battery is low and needs to be replaced by a Korg service centre. Resetting the date to ...

Well, as Dan has mentioned many times, there are no user serviceable parts inside the Kronos. So, for replacing the battery, you should bring or send the Kronos to a service centre. Opening your Kronos yourself may void the guarantee -- especially if there are obvious traces of incompetent tampering ...

The battery is there to keep the CMOS clock on the motherboard running while the power is switched off. If the battery is dead, then the clock will start with the same time whenever the Kronos is switched on. As a consequence, the timestamps of everything you save to disk will be incorrectly set to ...
