Well it's been 3 years, 52 replies and nearly 4000 views later since I first posed this question. I've really enjoyed hearing the different perspectives on this one. I've come to my own personal conclusion that yes indeed we are musicians, but of a new and different breed... a band of ELECTRONIC ...

I've heard many users trash the song mode... saying it's better just to improvize in the pattern mode. I understand the logic there, but is there anybody out there that actually uses the song mode for serious songwriting?
Care to share tips/techniques?

Sometimes my Keyboard LED's light according to the note being played... other times it does not. How do you turn this function on/off?

Should I just save up for EMX/ESX? Yep! Actually, I just got a Korg EM1. It doesn't have the features of the EMX and only 2 synth parts but it sounds great. If you can find a good used one on ebay, go for it. Also there's a cool piece of software for it, the EM-1 Editor. You can check it out here ...

Can someone start an EMX .syx database for us to exchange EMX patterns?
