It would be relatively easy to turn that into a vst... the vst architecture is relatively simple.

You can simply send it a program change message. Hook up the midi out to your computer's midi in (provided you have one) and use midi ox to read the message when you turn the knob. Then once you read it you can send an identical message back to the box either using midi ox, or using a midi ...

EMX/ESX have hiss..... the hiss comes from the tube circuitry it doesn't matter that you turn tube gain to 0 because either way your sound will go through tubes...... the usual solution is exactly what you're noticing, keep the machines below 1/4 volume and add gain elsewhere in your system ...

If it doesn't power on at all, you need a new power supply.... if the backlight turns on but no text appears on the screen and it produces no sound... it means you blew a fuse and have to take it to a repair shop.

Any drum/synth part can trigger any sample in your library.... Stretch/Slice parts are designed for looping and percussive looping. If you are wanting to add a new sample to the machine it is probably best to use a smart media card and a software called ESX Wave Organizer..... All the looping ...

No need, the tubes have a little cover with (one or two) screw(s).... you don't have to take the box apart, just take the cover off, pull the tubes out, put new ones in (it's a matter of aligning the pins :-D)

all you need is a computer with a sound card (that has a line in which is usually a blue headphone like jack in the back)..... You will also need a dual 1/4 inch to a 1/8th inch cable... http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41d8BpQRiwL._SS400_.jpg To record you can use just about any program ...

Hey Wax this is cool. Bit of an odd question to ask you but as you have been messing around with the EMX is there anyway you could create an application that would enable me to load my own samples onto the machines chip? I am positive people would pay you for such a thing. All the best. Try not ...
