Thanks so much for people's contributions !!

I too have made a contribution (over and above what I do already) and would like to just remind people where the money goes and why I personally think it is worthwhile.

The costs of the forums alone are something Sharp and I have no need for donations for and we'd cover happily. However that is not the whole picture. For example, one of the most significant expenses is the download section (currently offline ... but returning very soon). This has always had a lot of traffic and it is traffic that costs the big bucks ;-)

The download section is full of freely contributed goodies from many users around the world. What you donate, in part, ensures that those downloads remain free to the korg community at large. It ensures that the downloads are shared in the spirit in which they were given.

From my own personal perspective, I also use some of the space here to share my freeware applications for Korg synth users and to a lesser degree DSI Evolver users.

Is it all for my personal enjoyment as has been suggested ? Certainly not.

However I do enjoy knowing that in the grand scheme of things, that is the Internet, where so many people contribute their time, money, skills and passions that I am putting something in as well as just taking something out. Anyone here (or anywhere else on the net) who contributes a helpful post, a useful resource, a few dollars or simply their enthusiasm and friendship is making the internet work and should feel some pride and gain some enjoyment for doing so.

If it was all people expecting stuff for free but without being willing to contribute then the Internet that we enjoy simply wouldn't exist.

It always makes me smile when people here thank Sharp and I for the forum ... when in reality it's you yourselves that make this forum (and others like it) what they are; a community rather than just a screen full of complementarily coloured pixels.

Daz.

KF/IA is, and always has been, a music forum.

The majority of us own Korg products, and like to talk about them, but much more importantly like to make music. Some of these songs may never be published, or even posted here, but it's what most of us are about.

That's it realy, new members are always welcome.

I only hope that people take this thread in the spirit that it was begun, which was long time members agreeing to do this. If any new folks love it here as we do and wish to help out that's even above and beyond what we expected to raise. I also felt the timing strange that I'm being asked to give to the Red Cross and also here, but that's just the twist of fate. From the great crying out that took place after our plug was pulled I assumed (hopefully I'm right) that Sharp's plan would bring in sufficient funds. That is for everyone who has a presence here to contribute a reasonable amount. This is not a marketing gimmick, but a way that we who cannot live without IA can continue on as a team. And I will add that it is the people here that make up the forum, and if I can shell out ten bucks more or less for a well-managed place to meet and talk then so be it.

Hi Gang :)

I used Paypal to transfer money from my bank account to the donation on the 2nd of September… on my Paypal account it says completed, yet no money has so far come out of my bank account.

Have I done something wrong, or is there a delay :?: :?: .

Cheers

Regards

Trev :) .

Hi Trev.

I would guess that it’s just a delay with your bank because the transaction has been completed. The payment is sitting in my Pay Pal account.

Hi Everyone.
So far out of 2791 member there have been only 15 donations which total €345.08 EUR.

Huge thank you to the 15 people who have already made a donation, but please… everyone else… we need your support to keep this community alive.

Kind Regards.
James.
