In OS v3.0 virtual mix board and compressor is missing!
As I can see, Korg have NOT included one very crucial function to OS 3.0, and not to PA-800 either – totally separate «virtual» mixer channels for accompaniment, vocals and solo instruments.
In that way it would be possible to let compressor «mask» specific channels or section when singer sing. For example: When singer sings, his voice are automatically «masking» (ducking) the solo instruments but leaves accompaniment untouched.
Then we are a bit closer to talk about one instrument that sounds perfect for live performances because all sections are perfectly mixed. In this way, when artist is signing, I need to manually lower my right hand.
So my question is:
Which synth shall I buy so that I can use for right hand play? It needs to have same quality of sounds as my PA1X, especially accordion and trumpet sounds.
In that way I can connect to external mix board 3 sections and set automatically compressor ducking on my right hand when singer is signing.
I hope that more PA1X users will appreciate this function. This function would really be a milestone in arranger development. The question is: Who will be first? Korg or Yamaha? Or both?

Hi,
there is a lot of interest/speculation about using compressors in the modern music.
They are used to pump-up, to limit, to duck, etc. but I'm not really sure they are always of benefit.
I think they are often overused and personally try to avoid them as much as I can, leaving the sound as natural as possible. A single processing in a single track (say a voice, a guitar) it's ok, but treating different tracks togheter I feel require good instruments/tools, good experience and definitely good ears to get fine results.
This is also why I like the Pa1X: IMHO it's the most natural against T2 or G-70 where others use compressors that change sound in something too much perfect and at the end of plastic. Pa1X has a natural sound, with some imperfections that it's the real key to have something of a real band or live feeling.
Just my thought.
Best regards.

I agree that at the end, it is a matter of the personal taste...
I have worked in music studio for a while and maybe I have a bit different perception when it comes to sound.
Actually, my intention is to use limiter logic, because it is impossible to get everything sounding good because before the "peaks" are eliminated. But yes, we are taking again about personal taste.

Yes I know that. However, my intention is to "clinically" separate those parts as done with pro gears on mix boards.
In that way all peaks will be terminated and everything about "mixing" shall be done automatically - so player just need to focus on music, nothing else.
Thanks.

The last version 2.53 came out Dec.2, 2005. Dec. could be the month. Word out is Korg wants to surprise us with a Christmas gift. We like children just have to wait.
"You better watch out. You better not pout. You better watch out I'm telling you why." Santa Korg is coming to town.

You see, that is exactly what I want to aviod - I just want to PLAY and let a several grand $$$ Korg arranger to handle dynamic levels automatically. Too much to ask?admar wrote: You can easily lower the volume of only right hand with the volume pedal set to Keyboard Expression.
Admar
I saw that it is possible to set a dynamical control with compressor in Pa3X between different style instruments. For example, set a 'pumping' effect between bass and kick.
But how about do the same but just between lead vocal and right hand instruments? Or between vocal and specific style instrument??
Cant imagine that is should be so hard to implement, especially now after Korg has implemented upgraded vocal effects.
Any idea how get some Korg developers to look at this?
I still haven't upgrade from Pa1X to Pa3X - just because lack of this function.
Cheers.
