This is a fun thread to read.
Sounds a bit like two kids doing the old "my dad can beat up your dad" game, except here it is "my synth is better than your synth".
I do not own a Kurzweil. I've never played a Kurzweil and I don't even know if I have heard the sound of a Kurzweil. So I won't comment much on the Kurzweil sound. I've heard people say that Kurzweil has the best sound of any digital synth manufacturer ever, and I've heard people say that Kurzweil has good sound but not that good and that they don't understand what the fuzz is all about.
However, I believe that you can never conclusively state that "Kurzweil sounds better than Korg" or that "Yamaha Motif sounds better than Roland Fantom" or that "Moog sounds better than ARP" or "analog sounds better than digital".
To your ears one is better, to other ears the other is better. Personally, I've never liked the classic, phat, all-over-the-place-and-in-your-face "quack-quack" Moog sound, for example (although I have never played a Moog either, so I don't know if I have heard the best a Moog can do). But I can't state that Moogs sound bad - period, I can only state that in my opinion, I don't like the sound of Moogs as much as other synths.
So to state that one synth sounds better than another is a matter of personal taste in my opinion. Of course there are specifications to go by, such as sample rate, sample ROM/RAM amount, polyphony, synthesis parameters etc. But when it comes to the sound that actually comes out of the jack plugs, I might not like the same string sound as you do. Maybe to one specific pair of ears, the string sounds in an old and now "obsolete" Roland D50 are really dated and not as good as the Korg M3. To another pair of ears, the Roland D50's strings are timeless and just sound good. You can't really look at the specs, because everyone agrees that the string sounds in the D50 don't sound like actual chellos, violins and other acoustic string instruments. But to some people, they sound very nice in their own way.
Same thing with music genres. I think it's unfair to say that hip-hop or rap isn't music. I don't like hip-hop or rap either and don't see the musical value of it, but then again, I don't see the musical value in jazz! To me, jazz is just random notes played for what seems like an eternity with no start or end or structure. But I would be a bit bold if I were to state that jazz isn't music, because I know that other people see the value in it.
But what IS beyond any doubt, is that chocolate cake IS better than cheese cake. This I can prove.

Not that it's a good example, but it's fascinating to listen to world-class drummers like Joe Morello, Jeff Hamilton, Buddy Rich, Max Roach (peace, brother) who are loaded with structure, yet listeners usually don't catch it because there's not the usual pitch melody they're used to in keys, brass, guitar, etc.
Sometimes one really has to screw on the ears real tight to catch the structure, tough, and I can certainly appreciate your remark. And there's jazz that's mainly just pyrotechnics with only the tune structure, sometimes not much of that.
Someone once wrote that creativity (of any kind) without structure (discipline) is a mess. Art is creativity under control. Painting, writing, hip-hop, jazz, rave, chamber music...all of it.
Want to start another thread about this?
And if so, Daz and/or Sharp: Where should we put it?
Besides...Lemon cake demonstrably beats everything
Like patches, its subjective, of course. But in decent jazz there's as much structure as in a concerto, symphony, etc. AABA (like classical) is one of the simplest, and often it's much more complex. And that's just the tune itself. Good solos have a skeleton, too, let alone a foundation.I don't see the musical value in jazz! To me, jazz is just random notes played for what seems like an eternity with no start or end or structure.
