K49 & Korg 05/RW

Post by Cliff Maffia »

Hi All,
I'm having issues getting MIDI data to play the 05/RW from a K49 keyboard.
The demo on the 05/RW plays fine, but when I try to use the MIDI out from the K49 to the 05/RW in, there is no MIDI activity. I've done the usual things, like trying different cables, and ensuring that the 05/RW has the correct parameters ENAbled.
The K49 software/editor and the help file hasn't helped at all (a bit bare bones as it is).
Any info would be greatly appreciated, to get these to work as a "standalone" without the PC being used.

(I know the 05/RW is old hat, but I like some of those sounds....and I'm a dinosaur :) )

Did you ever resolve this? I am having the same problem.

Please post a solution if you had success.

Cheers,

Hi BC.
Never resolved the issue, but have got it to play through a Lexicon Omega, shouldn't have to though. Should be straight out from MIDI Out to O5/RW MIDI In. Korg are no help, maybe a defective KB, as I tried the O5/RW on another KB and it worked fine.

Thanks for the reply! I was able to resolve this late last night.

I'd been trying to connect the K49 using a Turtle Beach USB Midi cable. No matter what I did, I couldn't get any midi activity (even though the TB diagnostics said everything was working fine).

I finally swapped the cable for an old MOTU FastLane USB box/cable I had laying around (which I thought was dead)...and everything works perfectly now!

Other keyboards I have work fine with the TB cable so this is something specific to the K49. I can't explain it but the controller just seems to work better with some cables.

FYI.
