newbie with probably some stupid question about using a PXR4

Hi,
I'm new to home recording and need some help with some basic questions that the manual that came with my PXR4 just won't answer.

Virtual tracks. How do I create one? How do I mix multiple virtual tracks? I keep playing around with it and just simply screw up my other tracks.
