What arranging strategies do you employ?

It seems to me that I use five kinds of loops:

1) Basic Drum loop
2) Ornamented drum loop or percussion loop
3) Bass loop
4) Pad/drone/noise
5) Some kind of mid-range comping pattern (guitar, synth arp, etc.)

Generally, the 4 loops are chosen from these five varieties. Dropping a loop in and out of the mix, is the the basis of the song arrangement.

What is the approach you use? Do you resample? How do you make do with 3 loops if so? Do you use external audio sources (CD's etc.)? Or is the Kaoss just one element in your arsenal? How have you combined/synced it with other gear?

I'd love to hear what people are doing with this great little tool.

The KP3 is just one little fx box and a useful little controller in amongst a whole heap of stuff.

About the only time I use it looping is for trying stuff out when mixing my own music - ie grab a loop and mess with it. I tend to use the loopers more though.

I guess I don't understand why so many folks who have a KP3 want to use it for simple loop playback. To each his own - but this thing is so powerful for improvisation.

The KP3's biggest strengths (imho) is using it LIVE and capturing stuff with it during the performance.

If I use a prepared loop it serves as a tempo reference and then I layer stuff from my voice or my synths on top of it. I should have a video up on youtube sometime this winter.
