X50 sound editing software for the Korg TR
Hi all,
I know the topic has already been covered on the forum but I can't seem to find someone that can confirm it. Is the sound editing software for the X50 usable with the TR? I'm thinking since they have exactly the same engine and the same sounds it should obviously work. Did someone manage to get that to work?
I know about the one from SoundTower but i would prefer getting one for free.
Thanks.

Unfortuanately I have to give you bad news.
Although Korg x-50 and TR series have the same engine, X-50 editor won't work with the TR.
The instrument is perfectly recognized by Digital Performer 5 both via USB and MIDI, but once X-50 editor is loaded, there's no way to put software and hardware into communication.
X-50 editor doesn't recognize TR series instruments.
I suspect it's only a matter of instrument ID # difference.
As far as I know the sys-ex strings are absolutely the SAME.

I don't think so.CyberDiablo wrote:I tried yesterday but as michelet says, the X50 editor software dosen't seem to be able to "see" the TR even if Windows sees it through the USB port.
Does somebody know if it is possible to tweak the instrument ID # either on the keyboard or in the X50 editor software?
ID numbers are a matter of programming. X-50 editor is programmed to send sys-ex messages containing THAT ID.
On the other hand, TR has its ID that's different from X-50's one.
There's NO WAY, except disassembling X-50 editor and changing all the possible sys-ex strings... Simply an useless hard work-
