new pcm sounds

Post by ironsynth »

Hi everybody, readind all the posts , i think that korg will make a new espansion EXB-M512MB or EXB-M1GB of memory RAM and then perhaps there is site enouhg to load samples and USB-PCM new samples.

I think korg will be create programs and combis usingOASYS ROM samples or new samples.

Kid nepro is releasing sounds and say that they required to use 50 Mb of sample memory .

If everybody , korg , Stephen kay , pro-rec , EJ2,are going to make expansions we will need a bigger EXB of RAM , M3 only have only one slot for it an the expansion of ram i think must there be the biggest in the market , perhaps 1 GB , think that informatica new technologies is very avanced but korg don´t use all these advanced technology.

Hi , Vampire the option of EXB -M256 is for load samples , in the M3 you can´t load samples in other location , only in the 64 MB of internal memory.

I try to explain that these 256MB aren´t enough for load all the USB-PCM; expansions that korg talks .Perhaps korg make a new EXB-M 512 or EXB-M 1 GB , to load samples for expansions and akai samples for example .

Ironsynth, are you aware of the load times on the M3? I have a set of samples that's 64MB. They take 1:40 to load from a USB 2.0 memory stick. Extrapolating that out, it would take 8+ minutes to load 320MB and a whopping 26 minutes for 1GB.

yes, it takes the same for me too

i don't know how korg will manage loadings from these extensions :

- all ksc from usb pcm you need at one time in ram (take lot of memory, even with unused samples, and limiting number of extensions simultaneously)
- autoload/erase kmp while selecting programs/combis (optimize memory, but take a "little" time to load for each programs selection, depending size of ksc, but allow many extensions)

sizes of usb pcm (64 / 128 ?)

the better way would be streaming from usb, but with 660 KB/s, bye-bye...

wait and see how...in january 2008

Hi, Yes R 12 I think that, until NAMM of 2008 we willnot know what korg and the third party are going to do , it´s top secret.

But I think that the responsable persons of korg may be tell us an advance that can clarificate our thinks.

How are going to be the format of PCM sounds and combis and where are going to load , and if are going to spend more money , because if i have to spend a lot of money , i prefer to buy a second hand OASYS .

I don't understand why Korg does not announce somethng at this time, regarding what we can expect as far as USB EXB-PCM libraries/sound expansions.

IMHO, this is no time for secrets. The cat has been out of the hat for quite a while, the M3 specs clearly indicate the a USB based expansion PCM capability is part of the expansion options, I don't think there is a need for fancy tricks, or secrets, just tell us what we can expect in the near future, plain and simple !

Unless Korg is way out behind, in even beginning the development of the USB PCM expansions, then that might be the only reason they are so quiet, and not much info. has been announced about this.

Hopefully Korg will announce something about this very soon.

Indeed, I'm about to buy the M3 together with the Radias and I don't know what I should expect, a newer improved model of M3 or just new expansion boards together with an OS upgrade...

korg M3 memory

Post by ironsynth »

Hi, look at this link which is the cost of the RAM memory for an expansion .

Korg would make an EXB-M 1GB for expansion for load samples and samples of PCM new sounds , they could take samples of the OASYS an we could load on this target in the new PCM sounds.

Other thing is the time that you spend loading the samples .

I think that korg has a problem because you cant expand ROM memory , Only RAM memory for samples and if they made new PCM programs and combis have two options , Use only the ROM of the M3 or I don´t know how to expand ROM , only Ram .

Look at this link please:

Hi vampire , it would be very great that korg made a new M3 extreme with all the ROM of the OASYS , but at the same time a korg M3 extreme 76 with module of Radias included.

Dreaming is free...

Yeah, but I bet when more people would start using the M3 and more sounds will be available, korg will start optimizing their OS so that loading time will be much shorter... Isn't Oasys taking just very few minutes (1 to 3 minutes) for loading a whole ton of sounds?

Well how about USB version 3... its just around the corner!

OK, its a hardware upgrade, but still it will be speedy 8)

Yes, I have held off on the EXB-M256 because its just too small for my dreams.

the OASYS take about 45 seconds to start up completely :D
Is it really only 45seconds`? I only tested Oasys once and it took definetly over 1min to boot. maybe it was older firmware or something then on the one i tested

The M3 Boots in ~45seconds
