Running Extreme in stereo...
Hi all
not sure if this was ask before...
how many of u run your extreme in stereo when playing live?
does it really make a difference?
and what is your setup like in stereo from your monitor to the FOH mixer set?

I play in stereo all my life. There is a big difference in panorama, sound width, and of course there are settings that allow you to use stereo in it's full functionality. I have some double layered programs and multiple sound combis that I want to distribute unequally to left and right speaker and couldn't do that with just mono connection.
Also have combis that have few timbres with same sounds dispersed to 5 octaves and each octave to separate portion of stereo field, for example:
C2 - C3: L127
C3 - C4: L90
C4 - C5: 064 (center position)
C5 - C6: R90
C6 - C7: R127
Now imagine what I produce when connected to amplifiers and stage speakers and than go through full achromatic scale from C2 to C7 with some powerful strings and brass with that kind of settings - sound diverse from left to right satellites and bass bins and people get chills with that.
Mono can't give you that.
Also, if you sequence any songs in Extreme, it's bad to go with mono. When you make drum kits, you have to care about drum sound positioning, each drum doesn't sound from the same direction and with programming them to various portions of stereo field you can simulate their natural acoustics.
But of course, with sequencer, it's optimal to use optional 1, 2, 3 and 4 outputs, for separate channels for bass drum and bass guitar, for snare, for rest of the drums, and for rest of the sounds.
I connect Extreme's L and R outputs to two channels in mixer and that's it, if that's your question.

what is the situation if your engineer only has one lead for your keyboard on the house mix? the audience won't get that stereo mix u r getting on stage right?

No, no - on mixer they are centered, so Extreme can create stereo field, if it would hard left and hard right, it would override Extreme's outputs, I think.when u connect to your "on stage mixer" L & R u pan hard left and right...right
No such situation. For a few reasons:what is the situation if your engineer only has one lead for your keyboard on the house mix?
1. I don't have engineer who would set up our gear, me and my band crew do it on our own
2. we always connect to same mixer, I always have at least two channels available,
3. if you know one female engineer with big boobs and strong tighs, send her to me, music knowledge isn't a must.

I use Sennheiser HD 215 headphones:

They are perfect to me. They aren't pro, but the sound is very warm and my ears don't hurt after whole day playing intensively. They don't allow ambient noise to disturb audio and that's good thing.
I suppose other would recommend AKG or something and I would too, but I paid them 80 Euro - for that kind of money I couldn't find anything better, AKG is expensive, and they satisfy all my needs, really.

Hey Guys,
I've been using Technics RP-F880 E-S for some time now. They are pretty good as they allow me to hear a wide range of frequencies.....you also wouldnt feel irritated with it even after hours of wearing it.

Would be much better if they had noise reducer, but good headphones in required price range, kabuchi.
You should try as many headphones as possible in local music stores - which one suits you, buy that one. If ten of us tell you "I have XY 123" and all be different, you'll get nowhere.
