R3 MIDI/editor ISSUES

Post by gore »

Hi guys, just a couple of issues im having when trying to use the R3 in conjunction with the R3edit program on my PC.

1.When i select, 'Recieve all data' or 'Recieve all programs' i get an error (stating: Device inquiry error). As far as I can see the drivers seem to be installed ok and the R3 is connected and turned on prior to opening the software. Any ideas of why this is happening and how to stop it? I really want to save the presets and then wipe most of them cos I only dig about 5% of them

2. Can you usually hear the synth sound as you tweak the knobs etc in the editor program? im not sure cos they are not communicating properly at the moment. If not im sure this would make it very hard to create sounds.

3. Is anyone else using the R3 as a midi controller? If so is there a way to clear a whole preset or change the settings on the synth so it doesnt change the program names (in the lcd) and have the annoying corresponding flashing lights go off everywhere when you use the program select buttons when mapped to your DAW for controlling software?(im using Ableton Live 6)

Any help appreciated

you have to get the latest korg usb midi driver for the r3, also do a firmware update... it will work with a standard usb midi driver but not 100%

Where do you get firmware updates from? I've looked at the Korg sites and all I see are manuals, Library Editor and USB drivers....but no firmware.

I'm having problems too... :? Downloaded and installed the latest Korg USB MIDI driver, and it installed ok. But I just can't get the R3 Editor to recognize it, it doesn't show up in the Setup (MIDI) menu at all. Tried reinstalling the software after installing the USB driver, no success...

-bump-

Anyone?? I don't know what I'm doing wrong ... :( I've installed the Korg driver, it says it's installed OK. I can see the R3 under Device Manager too. On the R3 I've changed "Protected Mode" to "Off", and "MidiSysex" to "Enabled". But the editor just doesn't see any Midi devices whatsoever. :x

I thought I'd reply to this since I solved it...The problem was (and is) the Korg USB driver probably. No matter what I did, I couldn't get it to work with the Editor even though it installed fine. Tried using standard Midi cables with an M-Audio interface and it works fine.

Mr. Duke

You are not alone and it is NOT windows running out of midi devices for I just reinstalled windows. I can not get the R3 to communicate with my computer either. There must be something wrong with the drivers. This sucks since I don't want to have to buy a midi port to usb since the r3 is a midi controller.

I am using the 1.11 version of the USB-Midi driver with Windows XP to access my R3 just fine.

I just installed the Radias editor and USB drivers. All installed well and I can see the Radias in the device manager but I can not select it on any midi list. The same goes for my M3 and its editor. Im forced to use Midi cables and cant use any korg editors. Whats up with that?

Where did you get the USB drivers? Did you download the latest ones? The software that comes with hardware nearly always has been updated/fixed between the time it left the manufacturers dock until it arrives in your hands.

If you've installed the latest drivers, does the Radias show up in the list when you press the "Device List..." button after you run the "Configure KORG USB-MIDI Driver" program?

Yes I got the latest drivers from Korg website. And Yes Both the M3 and the Radias shows up in the Configure KORG USB-MIDI Driver program. Everything seems to be right, but it is not working.

Anybody from Korg care to answer what could be wrong? Is this a known problem? Can you update the USB midi driver, to not to be so "buggy"
