ELECTRIBE TOURNAMENT...teh semi final zomg

Post by primateoftheyear »

edit. go here to see the tourney, feel free to discuss it here o9r in the SC chat thread, just not in the battle threads. night folks

http://board.soundclick.com/viewforum.php?f=23

HEY KIDS, HERES AN IDEA!. i belong to a couple of music sites where they run music tournaments, which i find to be a great way of getting to know different people and their music AS WELL AS GIVING ME A DEADLINE AND MOTIVATING ME TO FINISH A FOOKING TUNA!
i also love my electribe. i've got an emx1 and really enjoy seeing exactly how much i can do with my little blue box. i'm also interested in what you are doing with your little boxes.
if there is enough interest, i'd be happy to organise an ELECTRIBE ONLY ALL GENRE TOURNAMENT.
if you'd be interested, just post your name below.
EDIT
okay! quite a quick response.

ideally, we'd have as many as 16 contestants, but as long as we have an even number we can do it with less. just have to see how many peeps respond.

if any of you are in electribe groups elsewhere you may wanna point them in this direction. the more the merrier as you'll get more listens to your tunes and get to hear more ideas from other people.

i'll update the first post with a list as folks sign up.

no deadlines yet, i'll wait 'til we get some more peeps involved before we kick off.

with regard to which electribes, to make the whole thing as inclusive as possible, all electribes are good to go. but ONLY ELECTRIBES.

p.s i dont have all the answers, i'm making this up as i go along, so if anyone has any suggestions or questions just post 'em here.

contenders (so far)

TweakMaster oo.
Clive Sinclair.
Reddone.
Primateoftheyear.
Ruso
Hooks85
Xanzion
Aizo
LD 120
guyus
junglistbe
acertainpoint
Franz Keller
Manglebox.
Terrapee
Alpha_-=-_-=-_

if anybody's musician name is different to screen name just let me know

here are some prototype rules specific to this tourney, i'm proposing that we use the ELECTRONICA BATTLES FORUM on soundclick for 3 reasons; it is set up to cater to exactly this sort of thing and mods can facilitate, the site provides a place for hosting mp3s and there doesnt seem to be anywhere suitable on this foeum (did ask a mod but no reply as of yet). there are sample rules for electronica battles on SC here
http://board.soundclick.com/viewtopic.php?t=67474
which could be tailored to our needs.

any electribe can be used.
only one electribe to be used for each submission.
submission must be a single stream of MP3 audio recorded from the electribe (no overdubs, edits, mastering).
each submission must be between 2 and 5 minutes long.

voting should be based on anything apart from genre preference, voting for your mate or strategic voting.

any suspicion of cheating will require a video of the electribe playing the submission for evaluation.

IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS PLZ POST THEM HERE OR SEND ME A PM ENTITLED "HEY PRIMATE....YOU SUCK AND HERES WHY"

Oh man,

So interested.

I will sign up as Clive Sinclair.

Any rules? Deadlines?

Maybe make it so we have to include a sample in it and work it around that?

Damn this is a good idea. I support this fully!

I don't think you should allow any electribes, I think you should only allow ONE electribe per entry because those people who only have one are at a big disadvantage... especially is say one person has esx and emx and someone else just has an er1 ;)

oh by the way, I'll join the list.

a good suggestion. although i've only got the one, but dont mind if others use more i can see how it would give an edge. i'll certainly give it some thought.

will add you to the list :D

so another thing, what do you plan to do for submitting it, video or audio? And are we talking about a song? a jam? a set of patterns?

I would recommend that if at all possible that those who can should submit both audio and video or video with high quality (not mic but linein audio).... but definetly audio because those utube videos floating arround on these forums have such bad audio quality it's very hard to judge what you hear.

I think what is played on it should be whatever the artist wants you should allow improvisations, songs, and random jams, but you should have a requirement of say 5 minutes or less....

But yes just trying to throw some ideas... we should organize several of these like monthly ones this is a really good idea. This would bring a lot of the activity back into this forum.

Just throwing in my 2 cents. I think this is an awesome idea.

Although I am still a noob, if you all needed an extra person in the end to make it an even number of contestants, I would be more than happy to put some time in and try my best.

Im excited about this regardless and cant wait to see how this all pans out.

I like the idea of jsut 1 electribe per entry. Makes it interesting.

And also, Ruso, if you have chcked my videos out at all, could you tell me if they have good or bad sound quality.

I am new at recording, but I think my youtube vid's have great quality. But then again not sure!
