Hello Detlef,

I have loaded OS 3.011 and BKP 3.00.
It looks like Ending 3 is missing on all styles, except the ones in User memory.
Can you tell me how I can get Ending 3 back?

We don´t use the same factory styles as Korg (in our).
We changed a lot of volume levels, sounds that all styles sounds more homogene and more powerful. We put in a lot of new styles in the factory banks which are normally not inside PA1X.

But

A workaround from my side to get Ending 3 back

You can save the factory styles from Korg (load original OS and BKP - switch off factory style protect and then you can save the factory styles to disk) and load them into the key with our BKP (install our Xporata OS, our BKP - switch off factory style protect and load the saved styles to the places you want) - then you´ve the ending 3 - but no fitting sounds and volume levels. So you see - it´s all a question of point of views.

So it´s a decision you´ve to make what is more omportant for you.

Thank you Detlef for your reply,

I certainly don't want to loose the XMS BKP, so if I need ending 3 with a style, I'll record it into the style and try to adjust it to fit with the settings of that style.

ok here goes.....I purchased the XMS4 piano expansion board.

When the package arrived i was surprised to find that the package contained a DVD case but no DVD and very little by way of instruction as to how to install the very small 5 inch expansion board. I was a little disappointed. There was a diagram of how to install the board but for someone that has never opened up a keyboard it can be a little bit daunting but never mind.

My brother was on hand and he helped me install it. It took all of 10 minutes that included unscrewing the back and putting it back on.

When it is installed the board sounds takes up the first two user banks. The 1st bank contains 6 pages of pianos sounds and the second user bank contains 10 pages.

Let me say that the expansion board comes packed with lots of pianos and so for brevity I will only comment on the ones that stuck out to me. But let me say that there are enough good quality pianos to suit just about any situation.

At the top of the very first page is X Concert Grand Piano. And X Classic Grand P. These are both nice concert grand type pianos. The tones are rich and bright and easily much better than the stock Korg pianos. This was a nice introduction to the board and I spent a good ten minutes just jamming with these two pianos. I thought that if this was a just the first two piano then I was going to really love this board.

I moved on to X smooth piano and X grand jazz piano. Both sounded nice in the lower register but I was disappointed with the response of the sound when playing the upper register. For example, when I struck the keys moderately hard the brightness in the tone came in just a little bit too quickly for my liking.

I moved on through the pages and onto some of the combination type pianos. There was a nice piano and slow strings piano; great for worship type music, and the strings were nice and lush but not too intrusive.

One of my favourite combination type pianos was the X Star piano. It had a nice expressive grand piano with a slow response ‘wind’ type sound following the initial strike of the keys. Really nice!

I also loved the X Dance floor Grand. As the name suggests this is ideal for dance/trance type music. The piano has a nice bite when the keys are initially struck with a gorgeous phased sweeping synth type sound underneath the piano. The sound will inspire many up-tempo grooves.

Of the true pianos (without combination) I liked the X Bright Piano. It is a good stock piano that is bright enough to cut through a mix in arranger playing mode and yet true enough in its pure tonality to be played as a stand alone brighter grand piano.

The rock pianos were ok but nothing really jumped out at me as being special.

There were some nice Euro grand type pianos the type that you might hear on an Elton John ‘s ‘ Rocket Man’ Nice and bright and clear.

On the same page I think its page 4 there is a great X power piano. You would use this for anthemic type music. Very very nice in the lower register and nice wide sound.

Other sounds that were very useable were Pop Ballad. I could imagine singing the George Bensons classic ‘ Greatest love of all’ using this sound. Very nice combination of acoustic grand piano and electric piano.

There were just oodles of dance pianos and concert pianos and they were great but I was still searching for the piano that would just knock my socks off…

Then I found it on page 5!! It was a simply stunning Bosendorfer. Lovely wooden sound with responsive brighter tones the harder you struck the keys. Simply wonderful when played by itself. Very dynamic and for sure this will be my ‘ Go to ‘ piano when I just want to play piano. Really really nice!!!

Then just below it is an equally lovely X studio piano 2. A little brighter than the Bosendorfer but lovely and expressive and dynamic. Gorgeous.

On page 6 there are some very accurate DX 7 type electric pianos. I enjoyed them quite a bit.

By now I had spent a total of approx 5 hours and had not touched User bank 2 yet

The first two pages of User bank two are simply filled with great pianos from Concert grands to jazz pianos. I especially loved Jazz piano 2 and Jazz piano bright. You could even hear the ringing’ sound when you pound the keys hard. Just like a real piano.

Page 3 has even more great electric/ acoustic piano combinations. Using some very interesting effects such as phase, sweeping and flanged chorus.

Page four has some outright in your face funky clavs!! Very Stevie wonder, earth wind and fire psychedelic funk sounds. Yes sir!!!!.

Page 5 is stuffed full of sweet EP’s but the most outstanding are Deodal 1, 2, and 3. They use a mixture of tremolo flange and phase effects I think and would suit pretty much any current RnB style song. Just right for me ! I loved in particular
Suit and stage EP1 and ST Trem EP.

Lastly on page 10

There are a couple of pianos called STD 1 and 2. They are perfect for normal arranger style use and very good when played even on their own.

In summary

There is just about everything in a piano expansion board that you could wish for in this product. I was very apprehensive about buying this product initially because of the difficulty I had had in contacting the producers. I would like to thank Wittid for taking on the work of distributing and promoting this product. My only criticism is that the volumes of the sounds relative to each other can in a few examples jump noticeably . Hopefully that will be resolved in a future update. Also the volumes of all the sounds are much louder than the stock sounds on the PA1X. You need to be aware of this when switching from sounds on the XMS and the factory sounds. Although you could quite easily save the sound levels on your favourite sounds in a STS so that it does not jump when you switch from one to the other.

My final words are concerning this board it is very well worth the wait.

When I can afford it, I will look at the XMS1.

Asena,

you not right - PA1X has 2 EXB Slots and you need for XMS4 only 1 of them - so you are able to put 2 EXB´s inside.

If you buy e.g. the Oriental Dreams from TRSAMPLE - this package comes up with 2 Modules, but XMS1, XMS2, XMS4 are all SINGLE modules.

Hi worth,

i´m very happy to hear that you enjoy our product.
If you´ll order an XMS1 i stand to my word - you´ll get 50€ less - cause then you ordered a bundle.

That´s my offer for everybody of you. If you buy an EXB from Xprodata - a XMS2 or XMS4 and you´ll buy a XMS1 later - you´ll get the bundle price from us - there´s no question about that.

We are always on the line to make our material better - better installation instructions and all the other things and i thank you very much for your feedback.

In the meantime we deliver also XMS4 with a CD where a video "how to install" is on and there you´ll see how to open the keyboard and put the module right in. I had a very very short reaction time to your first PM and we are a company wanna stay very close to our customers.

Hope to see a lot from you next year at Musikmesse Frankfurt.
Xprodata will be there and presents actual and totally new products.

so far from this point
Detlef :-)

we made some new demos for XMS1
