Post by LivePsy »

Just got my M3 (and keeping my Triton Extreme with MOSS thank you very much). The M3 displays 1.0.6 on the startup screen. Why is this a newer version than 1.0.4 on the korg website?

The latest version on the Korg.co.jp website is actually 1.1.0, which is even newer again. That was just released to Japanese users recently and will most likely be available on korg.com in the next few days.

Daz.

p.s. congrats on the M3 8)

Thanks Daz,

I've just read the other thread describing the japanese version 1.1.0. Can't be long before the english version 1.1.0 and the fw expansion board is available!

The answer to your specific question is sometimes there are minor OS updates that are only installed at the factory. I remember this happening once with the Triton Extreme. In this case as Daz stated, both 1.04 and 1.06 will soon be superceeded by version 1.10, which will be available for download.

The 1.1.0 version already downloadable from the jap site worked fine on my M3.
Anyway, I don't take any responsibility for your M3 :P

Hi Klarnet,

an update from 1.04 to 1.1 should be an important one, can you tell us if there are major changes that you already noticed?

Nothing really important for my use, excpet for the Radias-exb I think, but I'm waiting for the board.
A new velocity curve (but I still prefer the 5), and some other things.
Here is the google translation of the japanese readme:

V1.1.0 of the new features (For details, please refer to the instruction manual.)
General
[New feature]: optional EXB-FW response
-- Optional EXB-FW to use the M3 system V1.1.0 need to update to. In addition, M3 Editor / Plug-in Editor V1.5 update you need.

[New feature]: optional EXB - RADIAS V2.0 to respond
-- Destination virtual patches feature parameters to add‘I‘ðŽ}
-- To enable this feature for the optional EXB - RADIAS to V2.0 update you need.

Global mode
[New feature]: P0 Basic, Velocity Curve, a new curve 9 Add
The standard curve 4 compared to the weak when’eITA response from the soft curves. Acoustic piano, and the tone of the dynamics of a wide Velocity control is possible. Especially M3-88, I recommend setting.

Klarnet,

Thanks for your reply, it is imo not a very impressive list, this could easely be adressed in a 1.07 version, but maybe there are already keyboards out there with versions up to 1.09. Thanks anyway, I wait for the official release.

I think the support for EXB-FW, which is a new future, is enough to call it 1.1 alone :)

It's official, Korg is japanese! ;)
The only thing that will change will be the translated instructions

So the Japanese 1.1.0 OS doesn't change the lettering to Japanese? :) I'd be stuck trying to get the OS back to English if its all strange symbols.

Cheers,
B

No offense to non English speakers. No one would want to use a device in a language they don't understand...
