MIDI controlling with the ESX

Post by coooool »

apologies if there's already a thread about this!

I'm trying to use my ESX to trigger Impulse in Ableton 6 via my Motu Ultralite sound card.

Seems I have to assign the buttons like this:
C3 = Slot 1
D3 = Slot 2
E3 = Slot 3
F3 = Slot 4
G3 = Slot 5
A3 = Slot 6
B3 = Slot 7
C4 = Slot 8

Then I'm sposed to do this "Set the midi IN/OUT ports that correspond or communicate with your ESX-1 to TRACK "ON" and REMOTE "ON"."
? not sure what that means.

I can't figure out how to do this for the life of me. If someone could give me step by step idiot instructions you will be my favourite person on the internets.

Thanks!

1... stick cable from esx midi out to pc midi in

2... in ableton's preferences, under the midi section enable all midi inputs for note controll... this way you can't miss the right one....

3.... stick impulse on a track and arm track recording,

one more thing, ableton and esx have diff note numbers.....

so ableton c3 is I think c2 on tribe, so if it still doesn't work try changing notes arround...
