I'm probably just being slow, but I can't seem to trigger the A-D buttons via MIDI, even with notes. I play guitar and don't have an extra hand to press those buttons with...
So apologies if this is covered in the humongous lists abocve, but I'd like to be able to trigger recording and playing loops from my MIDI pedal board, either by note or preferably CC.

You should be able to trigger A-D with midi notes. I don't remember if you can switch those to trigger by CC or not, but fire up the Editor and you will be able to see at a glance the midi notes that each button responds to.hovmod wrote:I'm probably just being slow, but I can't seem to trigger the A-D buttons via MIDI, even with notes. Oh, I found it in the editor, it's just that it simply doesn't respond to MIDI notes.subVert wrote:You should be able to trigger A-D with midi notes. You're right! Or at least I'm doing the same thing wrong that you are. I tried to go the other way to see if the buttons send anything but I don't see anything transmitted.hovmod wrote:Oh, I found it in the editor, it's just that it simply doesn't respond to MIDI notes.subVert wrote:You should be able to trigger A-D with midi notes. Well not sure what you're not doing right, but i've just spent the evening mapping out my Axiom49 with the KP3 and also AcidPro (split zone on keyboard), and its all working amazingly good ....
Here's what I've done:-
Fired up KP3, loaded in samples to banks A -> D (sounds silly, but when I first mapped the keyboard, nothing happened on the kp3, then I realised nothing was loaded into the banks.)
Fired up Cubase Sx (or sequencer of your choice). Added a midi track, assigned the midi tracks input to my axiom midi keyboard and the output to KP3 SOUND. Midi activity light is flashing when I play keyboard so midi is going into Cubase ok.
Then I assigned keys C2, C#2, D2 and D#2 on my keyboard to transmit on midi channel 1. And that was basically it, I hit key C2 and sample Bank A plays.
Your problems gotta be a setting slightly out. Before trying to alter the KP3 pre assigned controls (Note or CC) lets check your settings agains mine.
We'll look at Sample Bank A - Open KP3 Editor, click on Ext Ctrl & Global tab and then click on the Bank A field.
Settings should be:-
Assign Type : Note
Midi Channel : 1
Note# : C2
Off Velocity : 64
On Velocity : 100
Switch Type : Momentary
Now providing your keyboard is transmitting on the right channel, playing note C2 should trigger Bank A.
Once you get it working like that, we'll move on and try it by altering the KP3 Banks to respond to CC's instead of Notes (C2 etc).
What I have yet to try is plugging the Axiom directly into the KP3 via their midi ports (missing out the pc and sequencer altogether). I'll give it a go tomorrow with my settings as is and make sure that it still works that way.
Hope that helps.

I may have screwed up my experiment because I used my brand new padKontrol and I had it powered via USB and assumed that the midi ports on it would be active but then I saw a post that implied that those ports may not function under usb bus power.BostonGreen wrote: Then I assigned keys C2, C#2, D2 and D#2 on my keyboard to transmit on midi channel 1. I still have to figure out why I didn't see any midi from the kp3 for the bank buttons. I saw activity for the pad. I must have some oddball setting changed.

Hmmmm, interesting .... i've just discovered something a little odd, which may be your problem ....
I've just been triggering my KP3 as per my msg above and decided to record the midi notes onto a track in Cubase ....
I opened up the drum map editor and noticed that the keys being pressed/recorded (and therefore sent to kp3 to trigger the banks) were an octave lower ... i.e. C1 instead of C2, C#1 instead of C#2 DESPITE the KP3 editor saying that the assigned keys should be C2, C#2 etc etc.
So, try playing those notes and see if the KP3 recieves them

I think we need to move the above conversation to a new thread titled "I can't set off my KP3 sample pads with midi notes!!!!!"
Anyhow my addition to the new list is making the KP3 ABCD sample banks be set off not only by midi note but by CC as well. Why Korg didn't make sure of this in the first place is beyond me. Also the 1-8 program banks need to accesed via midi note, CC and Program Change in both global and ext control.
In fact lets just make every switch, slider, and button has the option to be controlled via midi note, CC and Program Change in both global and external control. lets just cover everything and be done with it so that the KP3 is limitless.
I was so disappointed to learn (the hard way no less) that I still can not use CC to turn off/on or effect sample banks ABCD.
Oh yeah still waiting on that multi-effect change...Korg if you do that you will gain so many new customers through the guitar market that you will run out of KP3's...guaranteed!

Wish: I would like to see adjustable screen resolution. For pitched effects it would be useful. Maybe each square could be a change, or squares and lines between squares. The way it is now makes it quite hard to play anything consistent.
Edit: To clarify; I tried with a stylus and found there to be eleven vertical steps per square for Grn. 1. That's a lot of steps for my fat finger, at least for certain applications I want to try

If this is an open wishlist I'd like to be able to change the way the LFO speed ramps up towards the right side of the pad. I feel I go from useful to stupid too fast, know what I mean? I guess I'd like to be able to set ranges, possibly for more parameters, but it's the LFO speed that's annoying me.
Maybe I just need to read the manual.
