Amp options

Post by bpm938 »

Hello. I've been playing in a band recently with my Triton extreme and we practice with a mono PA system and for whatever reason when I play out of that some sounds, mainly the horns that I've put together, sound like crap. They sound pretty good on my studio speakers at home as well as on headphones. I do need to keep working on the horns I've put together (and it doesn't help that I'm only coming out mono in the PA system) but what are some good output options for a keyboards such as Korgs? Are there some good keyboard amps that I should look into? Or is it just that maybe the configuration of horns I've put together sounds like crap when played with the rest of the band cause I don't have a good enough ear yet?

You need them to be in stereo. It's an important part of some of those sounds.

To help convince the rest of the band, many of the guitar effects will sound much better, too, if the house speakers are run in stereo.

It may be the PA amp and/or speakers. In small to medium venues, I play my TEx tru a Roland KC-500 and then have a line out from that amp to the PA just to add a little to the mains and monitors but most of the sound (75%) comes out of the Roland amp. Stephen

more about stereo:

Our church bought a Studio, but the piano sounds were tinny, the rhodes sounds lifeless, the strings harsh. When we switched to stereo, those sounds all came to life, were richer sounding and smoother. Much more like the real thing sounds.
