Just got a K61 and so far everything seems ok but...........

Post by mindwave »

I havent really done anything yet.

I'm in the midst of cleaning out a PC to devite JUST to music, this is my 1st venture w/ soft synths, and thats taking me a while.

for example, right now the MB only supports USB 1.1, if I cant find upgraded drivers I'll throw in a $10 2.0 card. So I KNOW that that will make things less than 100%

I HATE installing demo software, if I install it I want it there for good, but since this is my 1st try I figured I'd give it a go.

SO, in the midst of transferring a few hundred gigs of data to an external HD (usb of course) which has been running for a few days, I decided to plug in the K61 last night.

The suspense was killing me.

I had installed the software from the cd' as well as FL Studio and a few other sound related items left over from my guitar days.

everything loaded fine.

Now the AC Adapter that they gave my wife at Sam Ash is the wrong one (1st its the wrong voltage and 2nd it juts dont fit!) so I'm powering straight off the USB port.

I load the demo for the MS20 start "playing" the K61 and out it comes.

Very cool job Korg, nice recreation of the sounds and even with the workload the pc is currently undergoing (see above) it still plays, it starts to cut out about the 5th nte and can handle only small chords, but thats to be expecte.

I load up a few of the other free standing demo modules and they all seem to work ok.

UNTIL I get to M1LE and WaveStation Demo.

In M1 LE I can mouse over the virtual keyboard and it works fine, but nothing on the K61 produces sound.

and for the wavestation, I get no sound no matter what.

now again, I'm not TOO worried.

this weekend when everything has been updated and SHOULD be running fine, that will be a different matter.

just wondering if anyne else had any similar experiences?

BTW the rest of the pc is an AMD64 3GHZ w/ 1.5GB of ram and winXP sp2

With an audiophile 2496 card
